Texas vs. Florida Head-to-Head Record

Despite both programs representing prestigious brands in college football, they have encountered each other just four times throughout history: in 1924, 1939, 1940, and 2024.

The Longhorns blanked Florida in both 1939 and 1940 matchups, and although the Gators managed 17 points in their most recent meeting, they were thoroughly dominated 49-17 in Austin.

These storied programs rank among college football’s elite historically. Texas boasts a .704 winning percentage, placing them seventh all-time nationally, while Florida maintains a .625 winning percentage that ranks 20th.

The Longhorns have claimed four national championships compared to Florida’s three titles, with both programs establishing themselves as consistent powers in their respective conferences throughout decades of competition.

Texas vs. Florida Prediction

The Longhorns are ready for battle with the Gators after stringing together three wins in tune-up games. They lost to Ohio State in their first game and could only score seven points. While Florida is 1-3, it has had a much more challenging schedule, and the defense has hung in there for a decent amount of each of the three losses.

Neither side would say they are satisfied with how their offense has played through four games, but both know what is at stake when they lock horns in Gainesville. My key matchup is if Jadan Baugh can get anything going against this stellar defensive front of Texas.

Simply put, Florida cannot win this game without a significant contribution from Baugh, and I don’t think they will get it. The offense for the Longhorns appears to be clicking much more now with Arch Manning having a few games under his belt, and he will be looking to lead his team to victory in a challenging environment.

The stellar Texas front and DJ Lagway’s tendency to throw interceptions when the Gators fully lean on the passing game will do the Gators in. I think Lagway has promise and is a good player, but this is a massive test against a more talented Texas team hungry to get back on track. I think they do just that.

Prediction: Texas 24, Florida 14
