Dallas Stars Fans Outraged Over Rumors of Major Relocation

The Dallas Stars have emerged as one of the NHL’s most consistent contenders, reaching three straight Conference Finals. While a Stanley Cup Final appearance has remained elusive, the Stars continue to give their fans legitimate championship hopes each season.

With opening night just days away, attention has turned to how Dallas will perform under new head coach Glen Gulutzan. But amid the preseason buzz, troubling rumors have emerged suggesting the franchise could relocate from Dallas, and fans are furious.

Are Dallas Fans Ready to Face the Stars’ Relocation?

Since relocating from Minnesota to Dallas in 1993, the Stars have become the heart of hockey in Texas. The franchise cemented its place in state history with a Stanley Cup championship in 1999.

While the Stars have remained competitive, another Stanley Cup Final appearance has eluded them for 25 years. Now, unsettling rumors have surfaced suggesting the franchise could abandon the American Airlines Center or possibly leave Dallas entirely.

The Stars’ lease at American Airlines Center expires in 2031, and with just six years remaining, reports indicate the franchise is already scouting potential locations throughout North Texas. The prospect has infuriated fans who fear the team could abandon Dallas proper.

One fan mentioned, “I sincerely hope they don’t do this. Having them in Dallas is important to the identity of the team. If they go anywhere, it should be Arlington.” The fan pointed out how important the franchise is to the fabric of Texas hockey, and Arlington is the only place they should go to.

Meanwhile, another fan made their displeasure with the whole situation clear. “Oh, yay. No way to use public transportation to get to those locations. Guess I’ll give up my full season tickets I’ve had for 15 years when they move,” they said.

They believe that, unlike Dallas, reaching any of the new cities that the Stars consider their new home is much harder. Not to mention, the fans who bought season passes for the season would suffer a lot.

Mirroring the same feeling, another fan wrote, “Moving to Plano or Frisco would screw over all of us @DallasStars fans that live in Fort Worth. I’d definitely have to give up my half-season tickets.” They made it clear that a move to another town would also affect fans who live near Dallas.

For fans in the nearby cities of Fort Worth and Arlington, watching the Stars in action was easier, even if they didn’t live in Dallas. But if they moved somewhere like Frisco, the lack of public transportation would make it much tougher.

Meanwhile, another fan wrote, “If they want to keep making money, they should not leave Dallas.” The fan pointed out the financial factors of staying in Dallas. Other places won’t generate the franchise as much money, so they shouldn’t move.

On the other hand, one fan was clearly frustrated with this move, as they wrote, “Should I go ahead and cancel tix now? Ridiculous.” While further details are yet to come directly from the team, for now, the fans have been left in disarray over the events.
