After His Custom Richard Mille, LeBron James Gives Fans a Glimpse of His ‘King James’ Beats Pill

LeBron James turned heads at Fanatics Fest NY on June 21 when he subtly unveiled his very own Richard Mille RM 65-01 “King James” edition. It is a timepiece limited to just 150 pieces that fuses the brand’s cutting-edge engineering with James’s personal flair.

While fans were still buzzing over the RM 65-01, the four-time NBA champion treated them to another exclusive preview of his very own Beats Pill speaker.

LeBron James’ ‘King James’ Beats Pill Details Explored

According to Techradar, Apple stopped manufacturing the standard Beats Pill Plus in January 2022. But it was reintroduced this year and was finally launched on June 24 (ET), boasting Bluetooth 5.3, IP67 dust/water resistance, and up to 24 hours of battery life. Meanwhile, the “King James” edition might not be available to order, but the model will be available through Beats’ website and select retail partners.

In an Instagram Story shared on June 24, the NBA star gave followers a close-up of the custom “King James” Beats Pill, finished in matte black with gold lettering and embossed with his crown emblem. The speaker’s portable design and stereo sound system mesh seamlessly with the NBA star’s off-court brand, bridging his love for music and his status as “King James.”

Originally launched in 2012, the Beats Pill has long been a symbol of portable sound. The NBA legend’s bespoke edition elevates the Pill from lifestyle gadget to collector’s item, mirroring the limited nature of his Richard Mille collaboration.

The “King James” Beats Pill blends form and function in a capsule-shaped design optimized for on-the-go listening. The bespoke model also has a USB-C for both audio and charging purposes, and is compatible with iOS and Android.

According to Business Insider, James’ relationship with the Beats traces back to 2008, when he became a minority investor in Beats Electronics alongside Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine. His former teammate, Kendrick Perkins, revealed that James made a profit of over $700 million as a “silent partner” of Beats. The custom “King James” Beats Pill thus represents the culmination of an almost 17-year partnership between James and the audio powerhouse.
