Evan McPherson, Cincinnati Bengals (vs. NYJ)

The Bengals, quarterbacked by Joe Flacco, are touchdown favorites at home over the Jets. That’s the exact type of situation we want to target with a fantasy kicker.
Evan McPherson’s numbers aren’t great this season. That’s largely because Jake Browning couldn’t put this team in a position to score points. With Flacco, the offense looks much better.

McPherson drilled four field goals against the Steelers last week in what was the highest scoring game of the Bengals’ season. While the Jets pose a greater challenge defensively, it actually could work to McPherson’s benefit.

With the Jets not rolling over, the Bengals are good enough to get the ball in scoring position, but unlikely to consistently find the end zone. That sets up McPherson for multiple field goal attempts.

The Jets are allowing the most fantasy points per game to kickers. McPherson is a top option in Week 8.

Parker Romo, Atlanta Falcons (vs. MIA)

Do not confuse Parker Romo with a top kicker. He most certainly is not. But all that matters for kickers is good weather and field goal attempts. Romo should have both this week.
The Falcons are heavy home favorites in their dome against the Dolphins. They should find themselves in scoring position a bunch. Sure, they will punch in plenty of touchdowns, but all they need to do is stall out once for Romo to provide a useful fantasy outing.

Romo may very well get to kick 4-5 extra points as Atlanta throttles the Dolphins. Tack on a field goal, and he’s pushing double-digit fantasy points.

The Dolphins allow the third-most fantasy points per game to kickers for good reason. If you need a streamer with six teams on bye, Romo is your guy.

Will Reichard, K, Minnesota Vikings (at LAC)

Minnesota Vikings kicker Will Reichard ranks ninth at the position in fantasy points per game this season (10). This Thursday, he should have an excellent opportunity to continue that fine form against the Chargers, who just gave up 38 points to the Colts in Week 7.

Carson Wentz will start again for Minnesota, with J.J. McCarthy nearing a return from injury. That’s good news for the Vikings’ chances of winning and their players’ fantasy value.

Reichard has scored 2.3 more fantasy points per game since Wentz took over from McCarthy in Week 3, improving from an average of 8.5 (18th) to 10.8 (sixth). The Minnesota kicker led the position with 18 fantasy points in Week 7, and is a solid weekly option until McCarthy gets his job back.

Evan McPherson, K, Cincinnati Bengals (vs. NYJ)

Right behind Reichard in the second-to-last week was Evan McPherson, who made all four of his field goal attempts against the Steelers. Like Reichard, McPherson has seen his average fantasy production improve significantly following his team’s latest quarterback change.

In Weeks 3-5, with Jake Browning starting, McPherson averaged 5.3 fantasy points per game, which ranked 27th at the position. Over the last two weeks, with Flacco running the offense, McPherson has averaged 11 fantasy points per game, which ranks eighth in that time.

The Bengals face the 0-7 Jets this weekend and should be able to run up the score, benefiting their kicker. The Jets have allowed the seventh-most points in the NFL this season, and will have a hard time stopping Cincinnati’s explosive offensive weapons.
