Tennis Fans’ Reaction to 2025 Paris Masters Draw
The top eight seeds of the 2025 Paris Masters, namely, Alcaraz, Sinner, Zverev, Fritz, Shelton, De Minaur, Musetti, and Ruud, will all begin their campaigns in the second round after receiving first-round byes.
Novak Djokovic, who has won the Paris Masters a record seven times, announced that he will not compete this year. His decision follows his retirement from the third-place match against Fritz at the 2025 Six Kings Slam, an exhibition tournament.
Alcaraz will open his campaign in Paris against the winner of Cameron Norrie’s and Sebastián Báez’s first-round match, while Sinner will face Alex Michelsen or Zizou Bergs in his opening match.
Defending champion Zverev will meet Camilo Ugo Carabelli, a qualifier or a special exempt, in the second round. In his first match, Fritz will face wild card Térence Atmane, a qualifier, or a special exempt. Grigor Dimitrov is also returning on the Tour at the Paris Masters after retiring from his fourth match at Wimbledon due to injury.
The 2025 Paris Masters draw has pulled various reactions from tennis fans, who took to social media to express their thoughts. One fan noted that Fritz has experienced “rough luck” with his draws. The American’s second-round opponent could be Terence Atmane, who beat him at the Cincinnati Masters earlier this year.
Fritz’s other potential opponents upto the quarterfinals. include Alexander Bublik, Corentin Moutet (who beat him at the Queen’s Club Championships), Denis Shapovalov (who has a positive head-to-head record against him), and Alex de Minaur
“Fritz is getting some really rough luck with his draws recently lol. His entire mini-section is full of the types of players that are tough matchups for his weaknesses feels like every tournament he’s having to play either a bot or a big-hitting lefty,” the fan’s comment read.

Ben Shelton is another player who has not gotten a particularly favorable draw. The World No. 6 has not had the best of comebacks in tennis, having suffered early exits in Shanghai and most recently, Basel. He will face either Flavio Cobolli or Tomáš Macháč in the second round. Cobolli has had the best season of his career so far while Macháč on his day can make things difficult for Shelton.
The American’s potential further opponents at the Paris Masters include Learner Tien (who has a 1-0 head-to-head record against him), Jakub Menšík, and Andrey Rublev.
One fan said of Shelton’s draw:
“Bro don’t even worry about it. Go home to your wife, help her with the injury, plan the vacation proposal for New Years, train hard, we’ll be ready to take AO.”
