In the second edition of the College Football Playoff rankings, Miami was announced to be ranked over Georgia Tech, with the Hurricanes landing at No. 15 and the Yellow Jackets coming in just one spot lower at No. 16.
This decision sparked controversy among fans, especially since both teams compete in the ACC. Georgia Tech currently holds an 8-1 record (5-1 ACC), while Miami sits at 7-2 (3-2 ACC).
Georgia Tech entered Week 10 on an eight-game winning streak before falling short to NC State (5-4, 2-3) in a 48-36 loss on November 1. Miami, meanwhile, started its season strong with key wins over tough opponents, but the Hurricanes’ momentum dipped following two losses, a 24-21 loss to Louisville (7-2, 4-2) on October 17 and a 26-20 loss to SMU (7-3, 5-1) on November 1.

What are Football Fans Saying About Miami Being Ranked Over Georgia Tech On Social Media?
The rankings have sparked an immediate reaction from fans across X (formerly Twitter). Many believe Georgia Tech’s consistent play and stronger record make it more deserving of a higher ranking.
Georgia Tech’s only loss came from NC State, while Miami has dropped two of its last three games, raising questions about the fairness of the rankings.
Miami being over Georgia Tech is beyond stupid. Everyone should have a problem with it.
It’s also the least surprising thing bc I can easily see the committee wanting to shove a brand name in over a team like Tech despite one less loss.

Miami being ranked over Georgia Tech is absolutely ridiculous.
They have lost 2 of their last 3 games and on top of that, they aren’t even in the ACC Championship hunt anymore.
Absolutely ridiculous.

Can Georgia Tech Bounce Back and Reclaim Its Spot?
With only one loss this season, Georgia Tech still controls its destiny and could move back ahead of Miami with a strong finish. Senior quarterback Haynes King will play a crucial role in this. King has thrown 1,888 yards and nine touchdowns this season and is currently ranked B+ on PFSN’s QB Impact rankings. His leadership will be vital as the Yellow Jackets look to close out the season strong.
Georgia Tech will close the regular season with Boston College on November 15, followed by No. 22 Pittsburgh on November 22, and a marquee matchup against No. 5 Georgia to end the year. If they pick up key wins down the stretch, the next College Football rankings could look very different.
