Zverev’s last competition of the 2025 season was the ATP Finals. There, he defeated Ben Shelton in his opening match before losing to eventual champion Jannik Sinner and Félix Auger-Aliassime in the next two group stage matches, which prevented him from advancing further in the tournament.

Alexander Zverev to Next Compete at Davis Cup Finals

Zverev will next represent Germany at the 2025 Davis Cup Finals, which take place from Nov. 18 to 23, 2025. The matches of the tournament are taking place at the SuperTennis Arena Bologna Fiere, Bologna, Italy. In addition to Germany, countries like two-time defending champion Italy, Austria, France, Belgium, Spain, the Czech Republic, and Argentina will also compete at the tournament.

The German team, alongside Zverev, includes Jan-Lennard Struff, Yannick Hanfmann, Kevin Krawietz, and Tim Pütz, with Michael Kohlmann serving as the captain. In the quarterfinals, Team Germany will face Team Argentina, with the former world No. 2 set to compete against Francisco Cerúndolo in a singles rubber.

Zverev and Cerúndolo have met four times on the ATP Tour, with the Argentine winning three of those encounters. Their most recent match was in the fourth round of the 2025 Canadian Open, where Zverev advanced after Cerúndolo retired due to an abdominal strain, with the score at 6-4, 1-0 retd.

The winner between Germany and Argentina in the quarterfinals of the 2025 Davis Cup Finals will advance to face either Spain or the Czech Republic in the semifinals.

Looking ahead, Zverev will kick off his 2026 season by representing Germany at the United Cup. In 2024, Team Germany won the title by defeating Team Poland 2-1 in the final. This year, while defending their title, Germany was eliminated in the quarterfinals after losing 1-2 to Team Kazakhstan.

In 2026, Zverev, along with Eva Lys, Patrick Zahraj, Kevin Krawietz, Laura Siegemund, and Mina Hodzic, will represent Germany at the mixed-gender team event in Sydney.
