Andreescu Opens Up About Dealing With Several Injuries: ‘I Don’t Have Rhythm in My Playing Style’
Last month, in an interview with Tennis365, Andreescu opened up about her struggles with injuries throughout her career. She stated that dealing with on-and-off injuries has disrupted her rhythm on the court.
The former World No. 4 expressed that she needs to regain her rhythm and sharpen her “instincts” if she wants to return to the top of the sport.
“The problem is that I have been so on and off (with injuries) that I don’t have much rhythm in my playing style. That is going to be a big thing to get back to the top. In tennis, it’s literally a point here, a point there, and if you can really sharpen those instincts during those times, I think it’ll make a great difference, but it’s definitely not easy for sure,” Andreescu said.
Andreescu mentioned that despite the injury struggles, she still has “big ambitions” and understands that she needs to be “patient” and work hard and get back to her best form. She also confidently asserted that it is only a matter of time before she returns to her peak performance.
“I still have big ambitions. I know what I can accomplish. So finding that balance of being patient and being that go-getter that I am to try and get back to the top is a bit tricky. I’m just happy to be back on court. I still have that go-getter mentality. Sometimes I have to look at what I’ve achieved and give myself a pat on the back. I will be back. I really believe that. It’s just a matter of time,” she added.
This season, Andreescu’s best result was reaching the quarterfinals at the 2025 Libéma Open, where she was eliminated by the eventual runner-up, Elena-Gabriela Ruse.
