Few matchups in sports capture passion, tradition, and intensity quite like the Ohio State–Michigan football rivalry. Dating back over a century, this clash, often referred to simply as “The Game”, has become a defining fixture of college football, symbolizing not just athletic excellence but state pride, loyalty, and decades of history.
The rivalry between these two programs is a high-stakes showdown built on legendary players, unforgettable moments, and national attention. Michigan had dominated the series with four straight wins, cranking up the pressure on Ohio State to finally break through, and the Buckeyes did exactly that with a 27–9 victory that ended the skid and lifted a massive weight off Ryan Day’s shoulders.

Fans Didn’t Hold Back Against Sherrone Moore
Even with last year’s national championship, many players, fans, and coaches insist that winning The Game carries a different level of significance, and this year proved why.
Michigan fans are livid over the loss, despite their team’s recent dominance in the series. Some have even called for Sherrone Moore to be fired.
Many fans have been critical of Moore, and with the memories of Coach Harbaugh’s accomplishments still fresh, the spotlight on Moore has been intense since he took over the position.
Sherrone Moore gotta go after this year. I wasn’t high on dude to begin with, but my expectations dropped with every game this year. Now you come up on the most important game of the year, and you run the same game plan you’ve run all year. No effort to pass the ball. #GoBlue

This fan goes on to say that he was never high on Moore as a coach, and his expectations dropped with each game over the course of the season. He also criticizes the lack of effort to pass the ball.
According to PFSN’s offensive impact grades, Michigan has just 2,166 passing yards on the year (ranked 101st) and only 9 passing touchdowns (ranked 124th). While the fan highlights a specific game where the team didn’t throw the ball, it’s been a persistent issue all season, especially considering they brought in 5-star recruit Bryce Underwood. Let him go out there and sling the ball; that’s exactly what he was recruited to do.
Fire Sherrone Moore

This fan just blatantly wants Sherrone Moore gone. A quick tweet like this reveals just how fed up they are, probably to the point where they don’t even want to get into the reasons, because there are simply too many to list.
If Sherrone Moore isn’t fired after this game, I will riot.

“Fire Moore” chants are everywhere right now. This fanbase is so passionate that they’d go the extra mile, or even riot, if he isn’t.

Losing The Game is never taken lightly, no matter how dominant the team has been in past years. In Ann Arbor, the expectation each season is simple: win this game. There are no excuses.
If Michigan is serious about being a national championship contender every year… they fire Sherrone Moore and every other coach on this staff immediately after the next bowl game. No ifs, whats, buts.

To top it all off, this fan doesn’t just want Moore gone; they want the entire staff to go with him. The itch for another national championship in Ann Arbor is stronger than ever, especially after tasting victory in 2023. At least this fan is classy enough to let the staff stay on until after the bowl game.
Firing Moore and the entire staff after what is still a successful 9-3 season seems a little extreme. This is a very young team with significant roster turnover from last year, and starting a true freshman at quarterback is never easy.
He’s bound to experience highs and lows as he learns the nuances of the college game and his position. While the passing game has its critics, the rushing attack was strong, totaling 2,458 yards (ranked 10th).
Offensive and defensive impact grades of 84.3 and 84.9, respectively, show the team was well-balanced. Moore deserves more time to prove what he can do, especially considering this is only his second full season as head coach.
