After Arsenal’s 2-1 Premier League loss at Aston Villa on Saturday, Dec. 6, soccer fans have expressed their frustration over Gunners striker Viktor Gyökeres’ below-par performance.
Mikel Arteta’s side, who were on an impressive 18-match unbeaten streak, slumped to their second Premier League defeat of the 2025-26 season against Aston Villa. Leandro Trossard scored for the hosts in the 52nd minute, while Matty Cash and Emiliano Buendia scored one goal each on either side of the break.
Fans Disappointed With Viktor Gyökeres Following Arsenal Loss
Gyökeres, who left Sporting CP in a potential $85 million switch earlier this summer, came on as a second-half substitute for Arsenal on Saturday. He completed just four of his seven passes, registering zero shots and winning zero duels in 45 minutes of action.
One disgruntled fan wrote on X: “Gyokeres is not good man. It’s December now, there’s been more than enough tape to show that he’s just not at the level and that’s fine. It’s not hard to admit.”

Another fan posted on X: “I’m sorry guys. Viktor Gyokeres will never be the player we need in the CF. 2 steps behind the rest of our squad technically and mentally and it’ll never change. This is why i only want elites at the club from now on… you have to have top 5% attributes in your position.”

Another fan opined, writing on X: “Gyokeres is that footballer where, if you watch just a tiny clip of him, you might think he is terrible, but after watching him for the sometime, you realise you’re absolutely right.”

Mikel Arteta Opens Up On Arsenal Loss at Aston Villa
During a post-match press conference, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta claimed that his side have to improve in the upcoming matches to maintain their Premier League title push.
“It is painful. The manner we played, the moment someone beats his own man, the space is open. We had our moments but they are a good side. We were close a few times. We need to lift up and go again. Every week will be like this. We were 18 games unbeaten and the margins are so small. We have to focus on ourselves… individual levels weren’t there today in some cases,” the Spaniard told reporters (via Metro).
Arsenal, who are at the top of the Premier League table with 33 points from 15 matches, will next face Club Brugge in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday. They will then take on Wolverhampton Wanderers in the league next Saturday.
