Coco Gauff, Taylor Fritz, Iga Świątek, and More on January 5

Following a dramatic Sunday that saw the German roster crush the Netherlands while Great Britain clinched victory in the deciding mixed match, Monday, January 5, brings four crucial ties across Perth and Sydney.

The fourth day of the United Cup features star-studded matchups, including Grand Slam champions Emma Raducanu, Coco Gauff, and Iga Świątek on the women’s side, with World No. 3 Alexander Zverev and World No. 6 Taylor Fritz returning for on-court action.

United Cup Day 4 Schedule

The United States and Spain both look to make a statement in Group A on Monday morning. Spain enters the match searching for its first win of the tournament after dropping 0-3 against Argentina in its opening tie.

World No. 3 Gauff takes the court first against Jessica Bouzas Maneiro in what will be the first meeting between these two players. Gauff heads into the match as the clear favorite, looking to extend the American team’s winning start to the tournament.

Fritz then steps up in the men’s singles rubber to face World No. 33 Jaume Munar in a battle of American and Spanish pride. Fritz holds a 1-0 advantage in their head-to-head matchup, having defeated Munar at the 2022 BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells. The 28-year-old will be crucial to the USA’s bid to keep pace in the group standings as both nations push for knockout stage berths.

Raducanu makes her return to competitive tennis against Maria Sakkari of Greece in one of Monday’s marquee attractions. The British No. 1 brings a strong record into this matchup, holding a 4-0 head-to-head advantage over the Greek star. Raducanu defeated Sakkari in Washington and Dubai last year, and has won all eight sets played between the two.

Sakkari, however, remains a formidable opponent with extensive experience at the highest levels of the game. Great Britain’s Billy Harris will face Stefanos Tsitsipas in the men’s singles match, which marks the first meeting between these two players.

In Sydney, Germany faces Poland in a heavyweight clash between two of the tournament’s strongest teams. World No. 3 Zverev squares off against Hubert Hurkacz in the men’s singles rubber. The German holds a 1-0 head-to-head advantage, having dramatically defeated Hurkacz at the 2024 United Cup final.

Eva Lys takes on World No. 2 Świątek in the women’s singles match. The Pole has dominated their head-to-head series, holding a perfect 3-0 record against the German. Their most recent meeting took place in Montreal in August 2025, where Świątek rolled to a 6-2, 6-2 victory. The Pole has been the driving force behind her country’s campaign, and will look to extend her perfect record against Lys while giving Poland an early advantage in this crucial tie.

The action opens at the Ken Rosewall Arena as the 2024 Wimbledon Champion Barbora Krejčíková takes on Norwegian Malene Helgø before Jakub Menšík squares off against Casper Ruud. The Czech holds a 1-0 advantage over Ruud, having defeated the former World No. 2 in the round of 64 match at last year’s Australian Open.
