The draw for the much-talked-about the AO 1 Point Slam has officially been released, and it consists of big names like Iga Światek, Carlos Alcaraz, and Coco Gauff, among others. The sold-out Rod Laver Arena is ready to host one of the most unusual tennis events, and the winner takes all.
Breaking Down the 1 Point Slam Draw ft. Iga Świątek, Carlos Alcaraz
The event will feature 48 players, mixing top-level pros, amateurs, and celebrity wildcards into one knockout bracket where every match comes down to a single point. Alcaraz, representing Agnes Water Tennis Club, sits at the top of the draw. The world No. 1 gets a first-round bye but could still face some danger early on.
Alcaraz could face Maria Sakkari in the third round after facing Corentin Moutet or Andres Schneitner. Reigning Australian Open champion Jannik Sinner, who also got a bye, leads the bottom half, with Daniil Medvedev, Alexander Zverev, and Alexander Bublik also in the mix.
On the women’s side, there is Świątek, who is usually known for her control and consistency. However, this time, she faces a very different challenge where instinct matters more than rhythm. Other top WTA names like Gauff,
Naomi Osaka, Elena Rybakina, Amanda Anisimova, Jasmine Paolini, and Maria Sakkari add more star appeal.

All the players who received a bye to the second round include Alcaraz, Sakkari, Zverev, Andrey Rublev, Félix Auger-Aliassime, Paolini, Osaka, Gauff, Sinner, Laura Pigossi, Anisimova, Medvedev, Bublik, Rybakina, Frances Tiafoe, and Świątek.
Linda Fruhvirtova scored a forehand winner against Pablo Carreño Busta in the qualifying match today. However, they are set to face again in the first round of the event.

This is, weirdly, a rematch: Fruhvirtova ripped a forehand winner past a passive PCB this morning, and so PCB is back as something of a lucky loser. https://t.co/dOT8xIw66j

What really sets this event apart is the presence of celebrities and amateur players. Well-known Australians like Karl Stefanovic, Damien Oliver, and AFL star Bailey Smith are placed throughout the draw, and any one of them could knock out a Grand Slam champion with a single winning point. While some pros enter later through byes, there is no safety net. One mistake is enough.

Each match will be decided by just one point. The server is chosen by rock-paper-scissors. Amateur players get two serves, while professionals get only one. There are no second chances. With men and women sharing the same bracket, the crossover matchups are one of the event’s biggest attractions.
Along with the 1 million AUD (670k USD approx.) prize money for the winner, the event also supports grassroots tennis. Every participant represents an Australian tennis club, and the winning player’s club will receive a 50,000 AUD (33,500 USD approx.) grant.
