The Dallas Cowboys have been involved in several contract sagas over the last few offseasons, and this season is no different. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has often waited to hand out extensions to his star players, and superstar Micah Parsons is still waiting for the extension he deserves.
Jones commented on Parsons and even Dak Prescott’s availability, saying that if they sign him to a big deal, it doesn’t mean they’ll be on the field. Former NFL QB Chase Daniel ripped into Jones for making ill-advised comments about his franchise players.

Chase Daniel Slams Jerry Jones for Comments on Dak Prescott and Micah Parsons
Daniel was shocked at how Jones addressed his star players. Putting the players on blast is not the best recipe for keeping your players happy playing for your franchise. Jones incorrectly addressed Parsons’s being hurt for six games last season, while he only missed four.
For more evidence for his case, Jones addressed how Prescott had a considerable extension and missed half the season. Daniel made fun of Jones’ handling of Parsons and Prescott, taking a shot at the Cowboys organization.
“The way they do things down in Dallas is beyond mind boggling. Let’s piss off our star QB and star pass rusher before the season even starts. Definitely doesn’t sit well in the locker room,” said Daniel.

Daniel is very confused about the Cowboys’ management strategies. The main contributors to the team’s success are attacked for putting their best out there and suffering injuries, which are almost always out of their control. As Daniel points out, this strategy is not ideal for strong team morale.
Prescott is a tough quarterback. He appeared in every game in six of his nine NFL seasons. The shot at Parsons not being fully healthy is even more puzzling, as last season was his first season where he missed games, and he only missed four of the 17 games. Parsons has consistently been available for his team throughout his career.
It doesn’t make sense for Daniel why Jones would blame Parsons’ availability for the long delay in the new deal. The Cowboys have notoriously been involved in contract disputes, though. First, it was CeeDee Lamb, then Dak Prescott, and now Micah Parsons. Lamb held out during training camp, and Prescott waited until September 2024 for his new deal.
After Jones’ comments, an extension for Parsons doesn’t seem close. His production is irreplaceable for Dallas, and it’s likely a matter of when, not if, for an extension. But Jones’ shot at Parsons might be swaying the odds away from the likely agreement between the two sides.
Parsons has three top-three finishes in Defensive Player of the Year voting, including two second-place finishes. There is no doubt that Parsons deserves one of the most expensive contracts in the NFL. The question remains when he will get paid and if the Cowboys will give him the contract he wants.
With training camp beginning, Parsons could see himself sitting out until Jones opens his pockets. Jones will have to be careful with his words after seemingly pissing off his star edge rusher with a shot at Parsons while incorrectly stating how much time Parsons missed. The Cowboys can’t lose Parsons; only time will tell if this situation worsens in Dallas.
