The Detroit Tigers are experiencing their most persistent slump in years for the franchise.
They hold a 60-46 overall record but have lost six straight and 12 of their last 13. Over the past 18 days, they’ve won just once. Detroit has also dropped seven straight at home, their worst home skid since an eight-game losing streak from June 9–28, 2019, the same year they finished with the seventh-most losses in MLB history.
Their latest loss came Saturday night at Comerica Park, a 6-1 loss against the Toronto Blue Jays, despite Detroit’s two-time All-Star pitcher Tarik Skubal throwing six scoreless innings.

Fans React to Tarik Skubal’s Statements on Losing Streak
After the Tigers’ 12th loss in 13 games, Skubal said that losing is part of MLB and will strengthen the Detroit franchise in the long run.
“I get to see all the work that goes on behind the scenes. It’s not because of lack of effort or trying or give a [expletive], anything like that,” Skubal said, according to Detroit beat writer Evan Petzold.
“Our team really cares, each and every day. The one thing I can trust always is preparation. That’s what I trust when I go out there, and I know our guys, one through 26, are doing the same thing. It’s just not going our way right now. People probably don’t want to hear this, but it’s part of the game. We’re going to be better for it. Whenever the tides turn, we’ll be better for it.”

Needless to say, fans had several reactions to Skubal’s comments.
“This might be a bit of an overreaction, but I think it’s time to fire AJ Hinch,” one fan said on X.

“You know, if our guys 1 through 26 are preparing the same way every time with piss poor results, then maybe, just MAYBE, something should be shaken up. Just a thought,” another said.

“Losing can be a part of a season, this goes well beyond “just losing”. They are a complete embarrassment that are not even close to winning. And don’t lecture about effort, could give a hundred examples of plays that show there is a lack of effort and focus,” one fan also said on social media.

“It’s easy for the only alpha on the team to defend his guys. But there’s no other alpha. Tired of hearing about preparation. There is zero compete level in the batter’s box. Be better. The end,” said another.
