Micah Parsons has been among the best pass rushers in the league since Dallas selected him 12th overall in the 2021 NFL Draft. He’s made the Pro Bowl in each of his first four seasons and earned three All-Pro appearances — with 2024 marking the first time he failed to earn the designation. His absence from the All-Pro Team came after an injury limited him to 13 games. He was on pace to set a new career high in sacks after finishing with 12.0.
While he has consistently been one of the best players in football and is set to enter the fifth and final year of his rookie contract, Parsons hasn’t been able to agree to terms on a new deal with Dallas. Although he continues to hope for a new deal, the star pass rusher hasn’t hinted at a holdout as he attended mandatory minicamp and is now present at training camp.
Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones shared a shocking update on negotiations, leading to plenty of backlash from the fanbase.

Cowboys Fans React As EVP Stephen Jones Provides Update on Negotiation Talks With Star Micah Parsons
Jones spoke with reporters on Sunday and hinted that Parsons has been holding up a deal. Jon Machota of The Athletic shared his comments, tweeting:
“Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones on the fans yelling to pay Micah Parsons: ‘It doesn’t change anything. We want to pay Micah too. He’s gotta want to be paid.’”

The Cowboys fanbase was not thrilled with his comments. @onceugomack claimed he is tired of the Jones family:
“I am so sick of the jones family man. Nothing will change and the cowboys will remain losers, it’s exhausting and embarrassing”

@mac___rob described the Jones’s as incompetent:
“Per Websters dictionary incompetent a: lacking the qualities needed for effective action b: unable to function properly c: inadequate to or unsuitable for a particular purpose The Jones Family to a T.”
@mikedub44 suggested that they should sell the franchise:
“They need to sell the team to owners who actually want to win championship, not just $.”
@itsiconicj believes the Cowboys front office doesn’t want to pay Parsons what he is worth:
“Translation: ‘We wanna pay Micah less than what he is worth’”
@traderhooligan claimed these types of decisions are the reason for their long Super Bowl drought:
“30 years of losing. Wonder why”
@demcowboysfan voiced his hatred for Jones:
“I hate this man more than words can describe bro”
It is no surprise that Cowboys fans are not thrilled with the ongoing stalemate between their front office and star pass rusher. Parsons has been a pivotal piece of Dallas’ defense over the past four seasons. He has recorded 256 total tackles, 172 solo tackles, 63 tackles for loss, 52.5 sacks, 112 quarterback hits, nine forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries, nine passes defended, and one defensive touchdown.
Meanwhile, the pass rusher market has been reset multiple times this offseason as Maxx Crosby, Myles Garrett and T.J. Watt have all agreed to extensions. Parsons’ 52.5 sacks since entering the league ranks fifth over that span.
