Coco Gauff Reveals Wanting To Go on Love Island if Not in a Relationship With Boyfriend Jalen Sera

Coco Gauff recently expressed that she would have loved to be cast on “Love Island,” a popular American dating reality show. She mentioned that she would have considered participating if she had not been in a relationship with her boyfriend, Jalen Sera.

The World No. 2 confirmed her relationship with Sera, an Atlanta-based musician, in June 2025, revealing that they have been dating for two years.

What Did Coco Gauff Say About Wanting To Be Cast in Love Island?

During a recent press conference, Gauff shared her fondness for “Love Island.” She mentioned that if she were “single,” not dating Sera, and not pursuing tennis as a profession, she would have accepted an invitation to participate in the show.

“Honestly, if I were single, then yeah. I told my friends I was like, ‘I want to get casted.’ They would never cast me, but I would totally if I didn’t play tennis, I would totally do it. It just seems so fun to be on vacation in Fiji,” Gauff said.

The two-time Grand Slam champion admitted to having a “real bad addiction” to the series, mentioning that during the 2025 French Open, she would watch episodes first thing in the morning upon waking.

“I got into it last season. I had a real bad addiction. I think it started around the French Open. First thing in the morning, waking up in Europe to watch Love Island at 6:00 a.m., I couldn’t go on my phone until I watched it cuz I didn’t want spoilers. It was a fun summer,” she continued.

Gauff also revealed that she deleted her account on the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) for getting “too involved” with “Love Island.”

“I think I deleted Twitter after last week because I was too involved with Love Island, ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ was coming up, and I’ve never watched that, but I was into it just even not watching the show, and I was getting too addicted,” she said.

Gauff also revealed that she previously attended a watch party and even planned to host a “Love Island”-themed game night with family and friends, although she ultimately lacked the time to execute the event.

“I went to a watch party at Love Island. I’m in two Love Island group chats. I hosted a Love Island watch party. So it was a bad obsession. I was about to do a whole Love Island game with my whole family and all my friends, where we had to dress up and couple up, but I didn’t have time between the French Open and Wimbledon,” Gauff added.

On the tennis side, Gauff is currently competing at the 2025 Cincinnati Open, where she is seeded second. She began her campaign in the second round after receiving a first-round bye and faced Wang Xinyu in her opening match, securing a victory with a scoreline of 6-3, 6-2.

Who Will Coco Gauff Face at the 2025 Cincinnati Open 3rd Round?

After securing a victory over Wang in the second round of the 2025 Cincinnati Open, Gauff will face 32nd seed Dayana Yastremska in the third round of the tournament.

Leading up to her run at the WTA 1000 hard court tournament in Ohio, Yastremska participated in the 2025 Canadian Open, where she triumphed over Camila Osorio and Emma Navarro in the second and third rounds, respectively, before being eliminated in the fourth round by Elena Rybakina.

At the Cincinnati Open, Yastremska commenced her campaign in the second round after receiving a first-round bye. She secured her spot in the third round against Gauff by overcoming qualifier Viktoriya Tomova in her opening match, winning with a scoreline of 6-4, 2-6, 6-2.

Gauff and Yastremska have met four times on the WTA Tour, with the World No. 2 emerging victorious in three of those encounters. Their most recent clash was in the first round of the 2025 Wimbledon Championships, where the Ukrainian claimed victory with a scoreline of 7-6(3), 6-1.

The winner of the match between Gauff and Yastremska will advance to face either 23rd seed Jeļena Ostapenko or Lucia Bronzetti in the fourth round.
