KPMG Women’s Irish Open, Lottie Woad wins

English amateur Lottie Woad dominated the 2025 KPMG Women’s Irish Open, played at the par 73 Carton House, O’Meara Course, winning with an impressive -21 (68-67-67-69) and a six-shot advantage. The world number one amateur, already champion of the Augusta Women’s National Amateur 2024, won her first title on the Ladies European Tour. “It means a lot to win,” said Woad. “I had a good lead, but I had to stay focused. I’m happy to have done it and hope to continue like this at the Evian Championship.”

Alessandra Fanali, the only Italian to make the cut, finished in 17th place with a total of -7 (73-73-69-70), showing solidity and a good finish with a 70 (-3) in the final round. Unfortunately, the cut, set at +2, excluded Anna Zanusso, who finished at +4 (72-78), and Alessia Nobilio, at +6 (76-76), both out for the weekend.

Behind Woad, Sweden’s Madelene Sagström was ranked second at -15 (68 in the final round), followed by New Zealand’s Amelia Garvey, third at -14 with an excellent final 67 (-6), which guaranteed her access to the ISPS HANDA Women’s Scottish Open and the AIG Women’s Open. England’s Charley Hull finished in fourth place at -12, while four players, Spain’s Fatima Fernandez Cano, England’s Hannah Screen, Switzerland’s Chiara Tamburlini and Australia’s Kirsten Rudgeley, shared fifth place at -10. The top 10 was completed by Celine Herbin, Alexandra Swayne and Anne-Charlotte Mora, ninth at -9.

In the LET Order of Merit, Sagström climbs to 40th place, while Garvey jumps from 15th to 10th. The next LET event is the Amundi Evian Championship, the fourth Major of the year, scheduled for July 10-13 at the Evian Resort Golf Club.

The Ladies European Tour returns to Ireland for the KPMG Women’s Irish Open, the fourteenth stop on the 2025 calendar. The event will be held on the prestigious O’Meara Course at Carton House, a Fairmont-managed hotel, in Maynooth, County Kildare, from July 3-6.

For the second consecutive year, the tournament, which returned to the LET calendar in 2022, will be held at Carton House, after the August 2024 edition. There will be 132 players, representing 32 nations, who will compete in a 72-hole stroke play tournament, with a cut after the second round for the top 60 professionals and equal points.

Italy will be represented by Alessandra Fanali, Alessia Nobilio and Anna Zanusso.

Among the players in the field, two former champions stand out: Klara Davidson Spilkova (Czech Republic) and Smilla Tarning Soenderby (Denmark). The 2024 edition was won by English Annabel Dimmock, who beat French Pauline Roussin-Bouchard in the playoff. This year, however, Dimmock will not be competing, as she is expecting her first child, but will be present as a spectator.

Great expectations for the Irish representation, with 16 players, 12 of which under the Irish flag and four from Northern Ireland. Leading the group is Leona Maguire, the first Irish winner in the history of the LET, flanked by Olivia Mehaffey, Lauren Walsh, rookies Anna Foster, Sara Byrne, Annabel Wilson, Canice Screene and nine amateur players.

The field is enriched by the presence of prominent players such as the European captain of the Solheim Cup 2026, Anna Nordqvist, together with her teammates Madelene Sagström (Sweden), Georgia Hall and Charley Hull (both England). Among the protagonists of the LET 2025 season we also find four winners: Darcey Harry (Wales), Mimi Rhodes and Cara Gainer (England) and Perrine Delacour (France). Rhodes, with three wins this year, leads the Order of Merit and Rookie of the Year standings with 1,610.38 points.
