Jannik Sinner wears elbow brace before Wimbledon semifinal training

Jannik Sinner, the world’s top-ranked men’s tennis player, was seen wearing a brace on his right elbow as he arrived for training ahead of his Wimbledon semifinal against Ben Shelton. The sight has sparked concern among fans and analysts, as the Italian star continues to manage an injury sustained earlier in the tournament.

Injury scare during previous match

Sinner first injured his elbow during his fourth-round match against Grigor Dimitrov. He slipped and fell awkwardly in the opening game, bracing his fall with his right arm. Despite the discomfort, he continued playing and eventually advanced after Dimitrov retired due to a separate injury. Sinner later underwent an MRI to assess the damage, but the full results have not been publicly disclosed.

Limited practice and visible discomfort

In the days following the injury, Sinner has limited his practice sessions. He opted for indoor training and was seen hitting balls gently, avoiding full swings. His coach, Darren Cahill, noted that Sinner was eager to stay active but was clearly being cautious. The presence of the elbow brace during his latest training session suggests that the injury is still a concern.

High-stakes match against Shelton

Sinner is set to face Ben Shelton, the 10th seed, in what will be their seventh career meeting. Sinner holds a 5–1 advantage in their head-to-head record, including wins at Wimbledon and the Australian Open. However, Shelton has shown strong form throughout the tournament and will likely view Sinner’s injury as an opportunity to stage an upset.
