There is only a week left of the January transfer window for Leeds United to do all its business.
The main rumour involving the Premier League newcomers has been their ongoing pursuit of Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Jorgen Strand Larsen, with that deal potentially set to go right down to the wire, as Leeds edge closer to getting a £40m deal over the line.
Other than this recurring slice of gossip playing on a loop, it has been rather barren on the transfer front at Elland Road, but a new rumour is now suggesting that Leeds have been offered the chance to sign a different attacker this January, away from the much-talked-about Norwegian.
Leeds offered chance to sign new striker
There has been chatter in West Yorkshire involving some other targets, but nothing has materialised. Indeed, it had even been reported that Daniel Farke and Co were weighing up a shock reunion deal for Kalvin Phillips to finally rejoin his boyhood club’s ranks.
Moreover, Axel Disasi’s name keeps popping back up, with the Chelsea defender potentially providing the German with some more defensive cover, as the season enters its final pain-staking months.
But, away from these names, TEAMtalk have put a fresh report on the table, involving a potential deal for Genk attacker Oh Hyeon-gyu, with it being well-known that the Whites favour reinforcements in the striker department this January.
TEAMtalk sources allege that both Fulham and Farke’s men have been offered the chance to snap up the potent South Korean while holding talks with the player’s agent.
It is noted that the ex-Celtic forward is keen on a chance to impress in the Premier League, whether that be at Craven Cottage or at Elland Road. Crystal Palace are also in the race to secure the forward’s signature.
Fulham are reportedly in a strong position to capture the 6-foot-2 marksman, but they are not alone in their advances.
How Oh could be Leeds’ new Gnonto
Leeds could potentially win a star who has shades of Wilfried Gnonto’s blistering attacking game, if Oh were to swap Belgium for England shortly.
While Gnonto is seen as a household name in the here and now in West Yorkshire, that hasn’t always been the case.
When the diminutive Italian first emerged onto English shores in 2022, he was somewhat of an unknown entity, having previously lined up for FC Zurich before leaping to the Premier League.
Now, he’s seen as a player Farke can depend on in sticky moments, with the 5-foot-6 attacker up to 23 goals and 16 assists at Elland Road from 133 games. Statman Dave has even described Gnonto as an “electric” performer for the Premier League side, with Farke often throwing him into games when opposition legs are tiring.
That has been very prominent this season, with Gnonto managing to wreak havoc, even as he’s primarily utilised as an impact substitute by Farke, with two assists heading his way in the Premier League from just 340 minutes of action.
Oh, who like Gnonto when he arrived is a relative unknown, will be hopeful he can go on to be seen as another reliable attacker Farke has no hesitation about chucking into tense Premier League contests, with the South Korean going on to be seen as a “prolific” menace up top for Celtic, as per the words of the Athletic’s Owen Brown.
His outrageous numbers for Celtic certainly back up these claims, with Oh only exposed to six Scottish Premiership starts in total while calling Glasgow his home, yet he bagged a blistering 12 SPFL strikes all the same.

This same effectiveness to change games from off the bench has followed him to the Cegeka Arena, with the clinical 24-year-old powering home a mighty 15 Jupiler Pro League goals, from only 16 starts overall.
Further lauded as being a “very special” talent by his ex-South Korea manager, Jurgen Klinsmann, who also said he had a “hunger” for goals, Farke would surely love to welcome Oh to England, as he potentially unearths another impactful performer from off the bench, much like the treasured Italian.
One of his 15 efforts for Genk would come in December when Nicky Hayen’s men clinched a late point against Westerlo, as Oh tries to be a similar force that can change games for Leeds, if a surprise January move happens.
