First words from Danny Rohl’s assistant Henrik Pedersen, who is reportedly ‘in line’ to become the new Sheffield Wednesday boss.
Henrik Pedersen, who saw his contract expire at the end of the June and was linked to being as part of Brentford’s new coaching staff under new boss Keith Andrews, is expected to step up as boss once Danny Rohl’s inevitable exit is ironed out.
It’s unknown as to how contracts can be agreed considering there is a backdrop of staff and players still not being paid.
Henrik Pedersen is to now head out to St. George’s Park to join the squad with pre-season training underway ahead of the 2025/26 season fast approaching.
He is described by The Star to be a popular member of the team at Hillsborough, is well-liked amongst the players, so much so that he’d be backed if he were to be chosen as Röhl’s replacement long-term.
We can announce that Henrik Pedersen has extended his contract with the Owls 🦉#swfc

A statement on the club website reads: The Owls can announce that Henrik Pedersen has extended his contract as assistant manager.
Pedersen joined Wednesday in October 2023 and played a key role in helping the club seal Championship survival against the odds, then the following season as the Owls cemented second tier status.
The vastly experienced Dane now joins the squad at St George’s Park as the players are put through their paces at the world-renowned training facility.
Pedersen told swfc.co.uk: “When the opportunity presented itself and the chairman asked me to extend my current contract with the club, I didn’t hesitate.
“It’s no secret that my family and I have fallen in love with this great club and also this wonderful city that has made us so welcome.
“The fans are what carries a club through tough games, good times and bad. And our supporters are the best!
“I’m excited to continue my role at the club and getting back to work supporting the team and working with the great group of players we have.
“To the fans, I look forward to seeing you all again soon!”
It comes hours after the Sheffield Wednesday Supporters Trust issued a statement welcoming reports over the weekend that Dejphon Chansiri has engaged professional advisors to handle a potential process to sell the club.
They said that it signals a historic opportunity to ensure that Sheffield Wednesday has a brighter future, a responsibility for all supporters groups to be a part of, and one that the Sheffield Wednesday Supporters Trust will execute responsibly without delay. The Trust is the only Owls supporters’ body with over 3,000 members and officials who are democratically-elected by its membership.
As our Chair, Ian Bennett, says: “Whilst discussions with potential new owners will no doubt be at an early stage, Sheffield Wednesday fans will be looking forward to the potential of positive change in the leadership of the club. However, we will also want assurances from any potential new owners about their plans for the club, and their ability to deliver on those plans.”
To play its role in ensuring that Sheffield Wednesday get the right owners, all interested parties are encouraged to contact the Supporters Trust for constructive dialogue about the challenges faced by the club and potential solutions. This would be in the spirit of the Football Governance Bill, which requires clubs to consult fans about “relevant matters” including strategic direction and objectives.
For example, the Trust recently published “A Better Wednesday” outlining an approach to club strategy, finance and governance that we believe will be accepted by the majority of supporters including:
● A clear vision for the future
● Good leadership by knowledgeable people
● Meaningful engagement with fans.
● A sustainable business model.
The Supporters Trust will engage in the following immediate actions:
● The lawyer conducting the sale process will be sent a copy of ‘A Better Wednesday’.
● The EFL will be sent a copy of ‘A Better Wednesday’ with a request for a meeting.
The unfortunate reality is that every strategic mistake, every insult directed at our incredible supporters, has shown that Dejphon Chansiri is not an appropriate or fit person to judge who is suitable to be the next owner of our football club.

Here’s how fans reacted amid the first words from Danny Rohl’s assistant, ‘in line’ to become new Sheffield Wednesday boss…
@Jay_Blogs: Actually absolutely love those quotes. Henrik well done you’ve well and truly ticked my box ✅ 🦉 #WAWAW
@RossSiddons: Offers some form a continuity, popular amongst the players and at least prepared to turn up and get grafting. Some guy 👏🏻
@chinny72: Fantastic news. But I can’t bet my head around it. Staff not paid. Players wanting to leave and he’s being offered and agreed a new contract. It’s mind boggling.
@SwfcGurny: I just hope once we’re taken over, this bloke gets a proper crack at it, sticking by us through this shitstorm. Legend 🇩🇰
@chalkyswfc: How on earth can a new contract be negotiated when there’s folk not been payed for 2 months?? Wishful thinking 🤞
@tomswfc94: Going to be a rollercoaster of a few weeks, Rohl out, Pedersen in. Take over goes through, scrape the barrel to get some deals done. Maybe actually see what this 3rd kit is, strap yourselves in #swfc
@Roemeister86: Honestly what the fuck is going on at club, none of us have got a bastard clue proper in limbo
@joelgardiner__: Crazy crazy man, but good news this. Still I will never understand the financial ins and outs of a football club at all. How can you extend a contract but not pay others? Oh well viva la HP
@S6Retro: Fans understandably happy that someone is actually committing to stay. But… This has to be weirdest news of a very strange few months. Why would you stay at a club that isn’t paying wages? Does this mean Chansiri knows he can hang on for longer than people are anticipating?
@liamjcav: This is brilliant, hopefully it’s a contract with a clause that makes him the manager! Shows a lot about the bloke wanting to stay amid all the chaos!
@GazRobinson1: 🎵 can you hear us calling, out your name… Henrik Pederson, we’re embargoed again… something’s happening, happening to me… we’re playing kids because the squad left on a free… aaaawoooooo we’ll follow you everywhere 🎵 #swfc
@aroundgroundsss: Jesus this is the first bit of good news we’ve had for weeks. He’s committed and will most probably be the man to lead us next season. Loves the place and we love him for that. #swfc
@Woody135935: Honestly Pederson all but confirmed manager for start of the season, signing an extension during this time of the club, showing his integrity. He must be mad! What a guy. Apart from DC still being here, He should bring us some positives from here forward on the pitch #swfc
@s6_swfc: Is there something more happening behind the scenes because if I was Pedersen I wouldn’t sign a contract with a man who’s currently not paying people there contracts #swfc
@1867max: So on pedersen signing a new contract there’s two things i’m wondering. Either he’s a complete nutter or theres somet going on behind scenes takeover wise #swfc
