Man United vs West Ham match preview
Manchester United continue their pre-season schedule against a West Ham squad who have also played one warm-up match when the teams meet in the Premier League Summer Series in New Jersey on Saturday.
A host of new signings could be involved, including Bryan Mbeumo, who joined United for £71 million from Brentford this week, and fellow forward Matheus Cunha, who arrived from Wolves for £62.5m in June.
“The coach said we need to change our mentality in training,” defender Leny Yoro said after United’s first training session, speaking to United’s website, which reported that manager Ruben Amorim was up before 06:00 local time on Thursday to prepare for an early training session in cooler conditions.
“We’re here to work. If we need to do two training [sessions] a day, we’re going to. We need to continue like this.”

West Ham have completed the permanent signing of centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo – on loan to the Hammers last season – for around £35m from Nice, as well as bringing in 20-year-old Senegal left-sided full-back or wing-back El Hadji Malick Diouf from Slavia Praha for £19m.
“I really trust him because I’ve watched him play many times and I know he has a great reputation,” midfielder Tomas Soucek said of Diouf, praising West Ham’s “great sessions” during their preparations so far.
“My old team-mates and coaches from Slavia all say really positive things about him. I’ve seen fresh faces and strong motivation from everyone, and it’s important now we keep building towards the start of the season.”
Andy Irving, Callum Marshall and Lucas Paqueta scored in West Ham’s 3-1 win away to Grasshopper Club Zurich on Saturday.

Man United vs West Ham team news
Red Devils defender Lisandro Martinez has travelled and is hoping to return early next season following a serious knee injury.
Mbeumo could make his non-competitive debut, while Cunha impressed Amorim in United’s 0-0 draw with Leeds in Stockholm on Saturday, as did 18-year-old defender Diego Leon, who has signed from Cerro Porteno.
Goalkeeper Andre Onana and forward Joshua Zirkzee are doubts with minor injuries. Wingers Jadon Sancho, Antony and Alejandro Garnacho have all been left out of United’s squad.
West Ham goalkeeper Krisztian Hegyi, winger Crysencio Summerville and midfielder George Earthy have stayed in London to continue their rehabilitation from injuries.

Midfielder Edson Alvarez has been granted extra rest time after helping Mexico win the Gold Cup but will join the squad later in the tour.
Full-back Kyle Walker-Peters and forward Daniel Cummings could feature, having signed on free transfers.
Northern Ireland striker Marshall is one of the academy players to have joined the squad in the US alongside Lanre Awesu, Kaelan Casey, Preston Fearon, Airidas Golambeckis, Finlay Herrick, Mohamadou Kante, Lewis Orford, Freddie Potts and Ollie Scarles.

- West Ham have kept three clean sheets while winning four of the last five and completing a double over United last season.

- Forward Jarrod Bowen scored in both of West Ham’s wins over United in 2024/25 and has netted once each in three of his last four meetings with United.
- Excluding friendlies, United have won one of their last eight away games away from Old Trafford, going without a win in their last three such matches and without a goal in the last two.
- West Ham have won their last three away matches (including friendlies) by an aggregate score of 8-2, including a 2-0 victory at United on May 11 through Bowen and Soucek goals.
- Graham Potter’s team have scored in each of their last nine matches (including friendlies), netting more than once in six of those games.

Man United vs West Ham prediction
United were unconvincing against Leeds but Amorim, who said they have ample work to do, will be pressuring his players to avoid the defeats they suffered in the US during Ten Hag’s ill-fated pre-season.
With Mbeumo and Cunha potentially involved, they should have enough to improve upon their poor recent record in the fixture, and a 2-2 draw would likely satisfy both coaches.
