An urgent plea is made in a joint statement with it said that Morecambe are ‘on the brink’ with days until they suffer total collapse.
Panjab Warriors Sports Limited, minority shareholders, The Shrimps Trust, and Lizzi Collinge MP announced that Panjab Warriors are ready to purchase Morecambe Football Club immediately, with funds available to clear outstanding wages and liabilities.
This would lift the Club’s National League suspension and embargo, with the League ready to approve the deal.
Despite the previous statement, the sale has not been completed. The Club’s debts exceed £316,000, with additional liabilities mounting.
The first team has halted operations due to lapsed insurance, leading to player departures. Staff are facing financial and personal hardship, with some resigning.
The group urges Bond Group to finalise the sale to Panjab Warriors to secure the Club’s future.
The situation at Morecambe Football Club is critical, with collapse imminent. The Academy will close by week’s end due to no insurance and financial strain on players and staff.
By 4th August, the Club will shut down entirely, with no funds left and senior staff stopping work. The statement appeals to stakeholders, especially Charles Street Finance Ltd and Jason Whittingham, to act urgently and complete the sale to Panjab Warriors to save the 105-year-old Club.

STATEMENT 1 – 29th July
This is a joint statement from Panjab Warriors Sports Limited, the minority shareholders represented by Wright & Lord Solicitors, The Shrimps Trust and Lizzi Collinge MP.
Following detailed discussions yesterday and today, Panjab Warriors are now ready, willing and able to proceed with the purchase immediately.
The funds required to clear the necessary liabilities would be met forthwith. This would see the payment of all outstanding wages and other immediate liabilities to allow the Club to prepare for the season and lift the Club’s suspension and embargo from the National League. The National League are aware and ready to sanction the deal and immediately lift the suspension and embargo should the sale proceed.
STATEMENT 2 – 30th July
This is a second joint statement from Panjab Warriors Sports Limited, the minority shareholders represented by Wright & Lord Solicitors, The Shrimps Trust and Lizzi Collinge MR
Following our first statement yesterday in which it was advised that Panjab Warriors were still willing and able to proceed with the purchase immediately, we can confirm that this has not completed yet.
As each day passes, the debts of the club are mounting, with wages now outstanding at over £316,000, and further significant debts that need to be paid to ensure survival of the Club, which Panjab Warriors have already committed to pay within hours of completion with Bond Group.
In further developments today, the first team have had to stop all football operations as the required insurance which was in place has now lapsed as payment has not been made. As a result of this escalating situation, more first team players have left the Club, with further players set to leave by the end of this week.
Finally, it must be pointed out that this is a desperate time which is affecting all staff at the Club, both financially and their own personal well-being. Many staff have had no option but to resign and seek opportunities elsewhere, whilst others are still hoping that a deal can be completed. We stand together with each and every one of them and appreciate the difficult decisions they are having to take whilst the future of the Club hangs in the balance.
We implore Bond Group to complete the sale of the Club immediately so that this anguish can be ended and the Club can look to a brighter future under Panjab Warriors.
STATEMENT 3 – 31st July
JOINT STATEMENT – 31/07/2025
FROM: PANJAB WARRIORS • MINORITY SHAREHOLDERS ACTION GROUP
MORECAMBE FOOTBALL CLUB ON THE BRINK
It is with deep sadness and urgency that we issue this joint statement on the critical situation facing Morecambe Football Club. Without immediate action, our historic 105-year-old club faces total col-lapse within days.
1. Academy Closure This Friday
The Club’s Academy will cease operations by the end of this week: – No insurance is in place. – Players and staff can no longer afford the basic costs of travel. – Parents and player agents are requesting releases to leave the Club immediately.
“Losing our Academy will be devastating for local children and aspiring footballers. This is a hammer blow to the community.”
2. Club Doors Locked – Zero Funds Remaining
As of Monday, 4th August:
– The Club is officially shut.
– £0 in the bank and no cash on site means operations cannot continue.
– Senior staff have taken the heart-breaking decision to stop working after months of holding the Club together under impossible circumstances.
“A proud 105-year-old institution is now completely stalled.”
3. Urgent Appeal to Stakeholders
We make an urgent joint appeal to all connected parties, most notably Charles Street Finance Ltd, to act constructively and exhaust every possible option to keep this Club alive.
“Any assistance now would be remembered forever by the people of Morecambe.”
The Final Plea
Without an agreement today:
– The Club will rapidly disintegrate. – Staff and players are leaving—soon there will be nothing left to sell.
Jason Whittingham, your legacy is in your hands.
“You will be remembered in Morecambe not for your intentions, but for the outcome of today. Do the right thing. Stop the suffering.”
Panjab Warriors are ready and have reached out daily to complete this acquisition. The fans, the minority shareholders, the community, and your own stakeholders all want the same thing: for this Club to survive.
Sign the Deal. Save the Club. Today.
We implore Jason to sign the deal immediately so that this proud Club can be saved and its 105-year legacy preserved.
Here’s how fans reacted as an urgent plea is made in a joint statement with Morecambe sadly ‘on the brink’ with days until total collapse…
@Martin_H_1986: Even if a deal was signed tomorrow I feel its too late – no players, no staff, no access to facilities. And many of those who have resigned due to being unpaid understandably won’t return
@AdyHutchinson: If anything reflects the direness of our situation it’s this. @MorecambeFC is in its death throes thanks to Jason Whittingham. The club has shut its doors & can no longer operate. Players & staff are leaving in numbers. We’re near the point of no return unless Jason sees sense.
@VaniaMorozov15: Jason, be a man and sign these papers
@zakbrownz: Please do the right think Jason. A club is a community asset. You’re killing not just the club but a beacon of hope for your local residents.
@trevk37: There isn’t much you can say to that apart from the Shrimps are dying a very slow painful death 😔 IF and a very big if, should the club survive then it’s a massive operation to get it in a decent enough shape to begin the season.
@ShrimpsKits: Aaaaaaand back down. Fucking Whittingham
@jenhunt_: We will die. He won’t sign the paper. He wants another club to die under his watch. Staff who have worked none stop this month are now being told to stay at home where their minds can do overtime. Jason do the right thing.
@stormcloud25: He wants us to die. Sign the damn paperwork Whittingham. Have some conscience. @KieranMaguire @Sanny_Rudra @GiuliaBould @BBCLancsSport @GranadaReports @_footyheritage @NL_Enterprise @EFL @FA @uglygame @lisanandy @Steph_Peacock
@beeholepodcast: Solidarity with all #morecambefc fans. Absolutely heartbreaking to see the club left to die like this. How has this been allowed to happen?
Wow. A huge decline.
They’re right – there’ll be nothing left to sell soon. It’s likely Bond Group’s interest to sell for as much as possible, which could be why they are delaying, but it looks increasingly likely that they’re both just happy to let the club fall. Shameful. https://t.co/wv4A6pF5aV
