A Harry Kane penalty and three superb second-half goals condemned Tottenham to their first pre-season defeat as Bayern Munich made it two wins from two in their preparations for the new campaign at the Allianz Arena.
England captain Kane showed sublime control and precision to fire in when Michael Olise’s arrowed pass found Tottenham’s all-time top scorer inside the box in the 12th minute, although the striker scooped a penalty high over the crossbar shortly afterwards.

Kane’s goal might have been ruled offside had Video Assistant Referee technology been in use, but Tottenham could have had few complaints as Bayern found the far corner of the net three times within 20 minutes after the break.
Kingsley Coman’s fierce finish from the right began the procession before 17-year-old Lennart Karl curled in from the same side and Jonah Kusi-Asare repeated the trick from the left to complete a comprehensive victory.

Bayern vs Tottenham
Thomas Frank’s first defeat as Spurs boss was a forgettable one for the Dane, although there was a measure of early relief when Kane spurned his spot kick after Palhinha – on loan to Spurs from the German giants – conceded a penalty for a foul on Josip Stanisic.
Leon Goretzka lashed narrowly wide from inside the box when Kingsley Coman teed up the Germany midfielder seven minutes before the interval, in which Palhinha, who could be lacking match fitness, was replaced by Lucas Bergvall.
Spurs goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario palmed Olise’s second-half shot behind and Konrad Laimer lifted an opportunity high over the crossbar when well placed after Kane, Luis Diaz and Joshua Kimmich cut through on the left, but Bayern scored again when Laimer won the ball off Spence and supplied Coman, who shifted into space in front of van de Ven before finishing ruthlessly.

Kane shared a hug of respect with Vicario when the italian made an outstanding save to turn his effort behind at close range after Coman located him inside the box, and Richarlison sent a free header wide from Pedro Porro’s excellent right-wing cross.
Germany Under-17 winger Karl and Sweden Under-21 forward Kusi-Asare added to the scoreline with scintillating first-time strikes to press their claims for senior football to manager Vincent Kompany.
Reigning German champions Bayern started their pre-season on Saturday, beating French side Lyon 2-1 at home through two Olise goals.
Kane bagged 280 goals for Tottenham between 2011 and 2023 and top-scored in the Bundesliga last season, contributing 41 goals and 14 assists in 51 Roten appearances in all competitions in 2024/25.
