Sheffield United’s Jack Robinson in viral clip repeatedly telling the linesman to “f*ck off”

Sheffield United’s Jack Robinson, already booked, is seen in a gone viral clip repeatedly telling the linesman to “f*ck off”.

NEP Daily Football Podcast uploaded a video of the moment, captioning the post: “After being booked Jack Robinson of Sheff Utd repeatedly telling the linesman to f*ck off. 😬”

@ChrisHu45292304 replies: “In his defence he’s correct. That Kyogo fella chucked the ball into the crowd. That was the offence. The officials overlooked that and booked Robbo because he was right to challenge. The officials caused that.”

Birmingham City went on to beat Sheffield United in the Carabao Cup First Round, with a late winner from substitute Jay Stansfield.

An early error by the Blades’ debutant Dovydas Sasnauskas led to Kyogo Furuhashi scoring for Birmingham, Sheffield United levelled with a stunning halfway-line strike by Gus Hamer.

Despite a controversial disallowed goal, Stansfield then saw his deflected shot secure the win for Birmingham, who will face Port Vale next.

Birmingham boss Chris Davies said to BBC Radio WM:

“I thought again we were excellent. We carried on from Ipswich, we were very aggressive, we didn’t let them settle. I thought we were the better team.

“We just could have scored a few more goals to put the game to bed. Even defensively, I thought we were super. So, a lot of positives.

On Sheffield United’s goal: “The goal that they scored, I was really upset at that because we did not have possession back after it hit the referee.

“We saw the ultimate consequence today when you get a player of that quality, who can shoot from there, it shows you how important it is to get that right and I think the rule is, it’s a disallowed goal.”

Sheffield United boss Ruben Selles told BBC Radio Sheffield:

“We made some basic mistakes at the start of the game – that made the game difficult for us.

“After half time we became more competitive and then with one moment from Gustavo we equalise.

“For some of the players it’s a first experience in a stadium like that, there were some mistakes but it’s part of the journey.”

He said, per Yorkshire Post: “The game was difficult for us. We managed to come in one down at half-time and then we scored but we didn’t have the game management to keep the game as it was.

“We gave opportunities to young players – sometimes mistakes happen. But we need to prepare some young players for the future. “But they had more situations than us.”

On Hamer: “We know his quality. When we have him on the pitch we have more control. He is a player that can change games – and he did that tonight.”

Twitter users gave their reaction with Sheffield United’s Jack Robinson in a viral clip repeatedly telling the linesman to “f*ck off”…

@ArgyleMemes: Shows how gutless these refs are.

@KMblade1984: As a blade I’d have no objection to him being shown a 2nd yellow and sent off. Bloke is an absolute liability.

@dcooke1989: No wonder we have a problem with officiating in this country, who in their right mind would want to spend their time getting told to fuck off 4 or 5 times. If the lino had any bollocks he’d have immediately flagged, called the ref over and got Robinson sent off.

@alexgathern: This is allowed in the pro game without punishment yet even use a swear word at our level in frustration and it’s a yellow and/or a sin bin…. 😬

@Fantanafest73: Shall we talk about this wonderful example of a professional footballer, Jack Robinson. HOW on earth is he still on the pitch? A disgrace to the game speaking to the official like that. A lino a little less wet behind the lugs would have took action there. Should be retrospective

@Tommo155: Let’s see what is done about this. @FA I’m sure you will be putting in big sanctions as you do at grassroots level 🤔🤔 Your respect campaign has clearly had a big impact.

@ItsLukeee9: This is allowed. But Stansfield questioning why the game didn’t get stopped when the referee interfered with play which led to them scoring got a card 😂

@Caltermole: This is why I have absolutely zero sympathy for referees complaining about getting stick from players. The rules are on their side and could send players like this off, but they don’t. You’re just asking for it if you tell players it’s acceptable, which you do by doing nothing.

@Fonzyy97: Did everything he could to get sent off tonight

@BFCDanny1: Gives it the biggun to the linesman and then when he doesn’t get told exactly what he wants to hear he just gets aggressive, grade A wanker👍

@BatemanTom18: Easy argument for one of the worst captains we’ve ever had?

@SamCarford: I’ll not hear any defence of him again btw, you can see the ref writing his booking down at the start of the clip and he still goes on. Then 2nd half with the tantrum on the throw in, pathetic #sufc

@bislettfootball: As a ref myself I am so disappointed that the linesman stood for that. Should have immediately informed the referee. Its actually a straight red.

@JamesGi59737643: Should be off then, who the fuck does he think he is

@sussex06: An easy second caution, really don’t understand why officials don’t deal with this.

@ChrisDFer: Absolutely shocking refereeing, should be straight red, the players will only stop acting like that when referees punish them

@steelermark: How’s he stayed on the field 🤷‍♂️

@HalTheBlade: I read lips for a living. In case you were wondering, Jack Robinson actually says, “I don’t necessarily agree with that decision, but I very much appreciate you officiating tonight. Thank you.”

@PompeyKirbs: There isn’t a football fan in the world that would’ve disagreed about the officials taking action here. Once again, the @FA_PGMOL not working to purpose!

@colincoopu2: Surely that dissent so should be shown another yellow?

@RichFaasen: How is this not a second yellow? Match officials are too soft

@ldnsense: What a prat. Should’ve been sent off. Weak, pathetic attitude
