Middlesbrough’s George Edmundson ‘gives it large’ to Millwall fans, who throw bottles at him, before the player receives a booking.
Boro delivered a strong second half to beat Millwall 3-0 at The Den, securing back-to-back Championship wins thanks to goals from Hayden Hackney, Alfie Jones, and Delano Burgzorg after the break, ending Millwall’s five-game home winning streak.
Millwall dominated the first half, but Boro took control post-interval, surviving a scare when Josh Coburn’s header for the hosts hit both posts at 1-0.

Millwall manager Alex Neil told BBC Radio London:
“It is disappointing and frustrating to lose the game in the manner that we did because I didn’t think there was much between the sides for 60 or 70 minutes.
“We should have scored in the first half, we got into some good areas with some good play in the final third, but we didn’t put enough crosses in the box, and gave the ball away cheaply for their first and third goals.
“I think goals change games, after they scored the first they were happy to sit on the back five and hit us on the counter.
“Credit to Middlesbrough in that sense, but we have to be a bit brighter and smarter with how and where we want to play.”
Middlesbrough boss Rob Edwards told BBC Radio Tees:
“That was a good day for us, and a really good response from midweek. After you see a performance like that and last Saturday, it makes you annoyed by the [Doncaster] result on Wednesday because you have to show the same mentality every game, every week, and every day.
“This is a difficult place to come but we stood up to it. We were brave and played our own way so I am really pleased. Even when we didn’t have the ball we were trying to do the right thing and grow into the game.
“In the first half when we were winning the duels we were in threatening positions so I though bringing [Sontje] Hansen on at half-time would allow us to unlock that. He and Hayden [Hackney] were brilliant today.
“It has been a great start. Two clean sheets, and we have looked very solid across these two games. We want consistency, and we will keep trying to do the right things. I like where we are at but his this is a long, hard season.”
This is how Twitter users reacted after Middlesbrough’s George Edmundson ‘gives it large’ to Millwall fans, who throw bottles at him…
@radburn75: Borohousery- we have not seen such behaviour since the days of peak Karanka and Pulis. Needed this after being far too nice and complimented by every other manager who used to batter us.
@TractorFred2100: Best thing I’ve ever seen at a football match well in fridgeeee 💙
@1986_AlexR: Absolutely love it, Millwall shit houses throwing bottles at the players. To the mighty reds 3-0
@DavidKingy1982: Those Millwall fans need bringing down to earth who do they think they are! ? Embarrassing
@StozUTB: Millwall fans may genuinely be the most pathetic and fragile. Who on earth do they think they are? 🤣 Edmundson didn’t even play and still had the Den in his pocket
@LRaine96: Hahaha love to see it, go on George
@Loulameg: That was the best performance I’ve ever seen from George Edmundson
@ArchieAOA: George Edmundson. Your name was sung the loudest today and rightly so, those delusional Milwall fans really thought they were going to beat us today. You show them your two fingers and tell em to F off back home. MOTM aswell btw.
@izzyslovenian: Got to be tactical 😀
@_hutchinson431: That wasn’t the half of it, from where we were sat we could see him pointing at the fans and mimicking someone been fat 🤣🤣
@KieranExley: @Boro this is what we want. Biggest shithouses in the league
@jo_malt87: MOTM performance for that shithousery 😂😂
@gisboro: Took his card well didn’t he 😆
@officialandyb24: Proper shithousery.
@LewiUTB: Outstanding team performance, couldn’t pick out a single player who doesn’t deserve credit today 👏 special mention to George Edmundson for the quality shithousery
@_kieranbl: FRIDGEEEEEEEE
@StuB53: Hahaha class man, wish it got all of it, I thought he was gunna jump in the stands.
@KLC_0611: He was doing a lot worse than the video shows. I was sat in the upper stand directly above where he started this. He was swearing, making gestures with his fingers, the lot. Should be a fine/ban to entice a crowd like that. I’m really surprised a fan didn’t enter the field. You know for a fact that if he was our player, the club would be fined heavily and plastered over the news. 🗞️ NOLU
