Injury concerns for Lamar Jackson?
Baltimore Ravens quarterback and two-time MVP Lamar Jackson is fine, a team spokesperson said, after leaving practice early today with a foot injury.
Jackson was knocked to the ground about an hour and a half into practice, according to ESPN’s Ravens contributor Jamison Hensley. Though he remained on the field to throw a few more passes, he exited practice with a doctor and a trainer 40 minutes before the rest of the team. Before leaving, Jackson could be seen flexing his right wrist.
“Obviously, we’ll keep him in our prayers and hope he’s doing great,” said Ravens wideout Tyson Wallace. “I’m sure – knowing Lamar being Lamar – he’ll be back before we know it.”
Chicago extends Tyson Bagent
The Chicago Bears announced earlier today that they had signed backup quarterback Tyson Bagent to a two-year contract extension that will keep him with the team through the 2027 season. According to sources who spoke to ESPN, the deal is worth $10 million but could reach a maximum value of $16 million with incentives.
“Tyson epitomizes what we are building at the Chicago Bears,” said head coach Ben Johnson. “We are constructing a team that is driven by belief and built by hard work, and there is no better example of that than Tyson Bagent.”
No starters will be playing for the Bengals
Head coach Zac Taylor said that the Cincinnati Bengals will not play any of their starters in their preseason finale against the Indianapolis Colts on Saturday. Numerous starters had played in Cincy’s previous two games, including quarterback Joe Burrow and wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase.
No Kenny Pickett this weekend
Just two days after Joe Flacco was named the Cleveland Browns’ starting quarterback for Week One, head coach Kevin Stefanski announced that quarterback Kenny Pickett will not participate in the team’s final preseason game scheduled for Saturday against the Los Angeles Rams, according to NFL.com. Yesterday, he participated in 11-on-11 drills after spending the last few weeks nursing a hamstring injury.
“The injury was unfortunate, but it hasn’t stopped him from being engaged and knowing what’s going on,” Stefanski told reporters yesterday. “He’s getting as much work as he can right now.”
The Jets trade for a defensive tackle
The New York Jets are sending a 2026 sixth-round draft pick to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for a 2026 seventh-round draft pick and defensive tackle Jowon Briggs, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The second-year defensive lineman recorded 13 total tackles and one tackle for loss in six games for the Browns last season.
Cam Ward says the scuffle with Jeffery Simmons was “needed”
Cam Ward, the Tennessee Titans’ quarterback and the number-one overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, said that the team “needed” a fight to break out between him and Pro Bowl defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons, according to ESPN. He also went on to say that everything is fine between the two of them.
“Jeff is strong as sh*t,” Ward said. “It was fun, and I think it was what we needed. We love competing, just with me and Jeff, and I’m excited to have that man as my teammate.”
