While the 2025/26 Premier League campaign might have officially got underway last weekend, there is almost a fortnight left of this summer’s transfer window.
Watching all of England’s elite once again break a string of financial records this summer, Premier League clubs have remarkably spent a combined tally of over £2billion.
However, while the likes of Florian Wirtz might have completed a history-making £116million move to Liverpool last month, it appears that a number of Premier League transfer sagas will be going right down to the wire.
With the future of plenty Premier League superstars still firmly hanging in the balance, the September 1st deadline is fast approaching on the horizon.
In what promises to be a dramatic end to the summer transfer window over the final 11 days, we have taken a look at two of the blockbuster transfer sagas that are still stealing all of the headlines.
Alexander Isak – Newcastle to Liverpool
While Liverpool might have already spent over £250million this summer and also watched Trent Alexander-Arnold complete a controversial free switch to Spanish giants Real Madrid, Arne Slot’s side find themselves at the heart of another sensational summer transfer saga.
In what has become the key summer talking point from across the globe, Alexander Isak’s incredibly messy divorce from Newcastle has certainly stole almost all of the attention.
Although the St. James’ Park hierarchy might have publicly rejected a £110million bid from Liverpool earlier in the month, Isak himself has remarkably gone on strike and put out a publicly statement on Wednesday reaffirming that he has no intent on playing for Eddie Howe’s side again.
Essentially on strike and making it clear that he is desperate to force through a move to Anfield at any costs, it is almost impossible to see how the Swedish international can be reintegrated to Howe’s squad going forward.
Notching 23 Premier League goals last season and only further underlining his status as one of world football’s most lethal number nines, it has been reported that Liverpool are lining up what would be a record-breaking new bid over the coming days.

Alejandro Garnacho – Manchester United to Chelsea
Not featuring in any of Manchester United’s summer preparations and having a string of public fallouts with Ruben Amorim since the ex-Sporting Lisbon boss arrived back in November, it is no secret that Alejandro Garnacho is desperate for an Old Trafford exit this summer.
With a picture of the 21-year-old defaced ahead of Sunday’s 1-0 defeat at home against Arsenal, it has been suggested that Garnacho has burnt almost all of his bridges in Manchester.
Clearly not part of Amorim’s plans this season and with the Portuguese tactician seeking a speedy resolution, Chelsea have remained in extensive conversations over a summer move and both parties are still at a deadlock as we enter the final fortnight.
Although Garnacho might have made it abundantly clear that he has his sole focus on securing a permanent switch to west London ahead of the September 1st deadline, it appears there remains a major gap in the two clubs valuations.
While Manchester United might feel that their £50million valuation of the Argentinian international is more than fair, it has been reported that Chelsea are only willing to pay in the region of £25million.
