September 21st: Sunday’s English Double – 4/1 Special, Betting Tips & Predictions

SoccerNews Daily Double

With the Premier League action rolling onto Sunday afternoon, Manchester United will welcome historic foes Chelsea to Old Trafford for what is a blockbuster showdown.

However, although England’s elite might steal plenty of Sunday’s headlines, Championship high-flyers Bristol City will be looking to extend on their stellar start to proceedings.

For those of you looking to stick on a Sunday flutter, we have taken a glance at some of the most attractive English betting tips.

15:00 Bristol City vs Oxford United

While Bristol City might have failed to make any kind of play-off impact back in May, the Robins haven’t shown any signs of a hangover this time around. Despite watching their EFL Cup adventure come to an end following a 2-0 defeat against Premier League outfit Fulham on August 27th, Gerhard Struber’s men have embarked on a real Championship flurry. Last seen marking their return from September’s international break with a stellar 3-0 romp away at Sheffield Wednesday, the former Barnsley boss has seen his squad gain a string of ladies. In fact, Sunday’s hosts opened this weekend’s fixtures sat just a single point adrift of breaking into the automatic promotion spots. Heading into September’s fortnight interval with an action-packed 4-2 win at home against Hull, Bristol City are unbeaten in all of their first five Championship showdowns. Getting the 2025/26 campaign underway with a thumping 4-1 victory against Sheffield United on August 9th, Struber’s camp will be smelling a golden opportunity here.

Although Oxford might have successfully clung to their Championship status last season, Gary Rowett’s men appear to have a real battle on their hands this time around. Despite playing out consecutive 2-2 stalemates against Leicester and Coventry on either side of September’s international break, the Yellows have registered just two points from their first five Championship appearances and they are widely regarded as a standout relegation contender this year. Watching their respective EFL Cup campaign come to a nightmare end on August 27th as they slumped to a 6-0 drumming at home against Brighton, the former Millwall boss will have a major headache over his side’s worrying defensive struggles. Including a dramatic 3-2 loss against Hull last month, Oxford have shipped 10 goals in their previous three matchups across all competitions. Two camps who are expected to be scrapping it out at opposite ends of the Championship standings this season, Rowett’s leaky defence face a stern challenge here.

16:30 Arsenal vs Manchester City

While Arsenal might have entered September’s international break with a late 1-0 loss away at defending champions Liverpool, the Gunners have proven that flat performance at Anfield was nothing more than a minor blip. Getting their Champions League adventure underway with a 2-0 victory away at Spanish outfit Athletic Bilbao in midweek, Mikel Arteta’s men have won four of their first five appearances across all competitions. Getting the 2025/26 campaign underway with a gritty 1-0 win away at historic rivals Manchester United on August 17th, Arsenal should also be excited by their rugged defensive steel. Marking their return from September’s international break with a thumping 3-0 victory at home against Nottingham Forest, the Gunners have shipped just a sole strike in any of their first five matchups across all fronts. It should also be highlighted, Arteta’s title contenders have won their opening two Premier League showdowns in north London by an aggregate score of 8-0.

Although Manchester City might have entered September’s international break with consecutive Premier League defeats, the Sky Blues have come roaring back in an eye-catching fashion. Getting their respective European campaign underway with a 2-0 win against reigning Italian champions Napoli, Pep Guadriola’s men will be desperate to make another heavyweight statement here. However, last seen on their travels suffering a last-gasp collapse at Brighton as they fell to a 2-1 loss, City have failed to find any kind of domestic stability continuing on from last season. In fact, the former Premier League champions have won just six of their previous 17 Premier League matchups away from the Etihad – a run that stems all the way back to October 2024. Likewise, slumping to a woeful 5-1 drumming when they last travelled to north London back on February 2nd, they have also failed to win any of their last five meetings against Arsenal across all competitions (three defeats, two draws).
