We take a look at how fans reacted as billionaire John Textor considers trying to buy another English club, according to reports.
The Star claim that John Textor, who recently sold his £190m stake in Crystal Palace, is eyeing a takeover of Championship outfit Sheffield Wednesday.
They are currently facing financial difficulties, including a transfer embargo and unpaid wages.
Textor, owner of Eagle Football Group (which includes Botafogo, Daring Brussels, and Olympique Lyonnais), is drawn to the Owls as part of his interest in reinvesting in English football, particularly in a “turnaround project” to drive a club up the divisions.
While Wednesday is thought to be one of several clubs under consideration, Textor’s wealth and multi-club model, which emphasises player movement and collaboration, could benefit the club. However, negotiations with current owner Dejphon Chansiri, who rejected recent bids and seeks to recoup his investments, may be challenging.
Interest in Wednesday remains high despite their financial woes, but Textor’s financial clout could outmatch other suitors.

One recent quote of Textor’s that will excite Wednesday fans: “We’re turnaround guys, we like a construction project.
“There’s nothing more exciting for me than the idea of buying a second division team and getting promoted.
“But we might also look in the Premier League if we think there’s a real opportunity to catapult a team from mid-table to upper-table, we think we’re capable of doing that.”

So how have fans reacted to billionaire John Textor considering trying to buy another English club? Take a look below…
@lukepeo1867: Come on be a fucking legend
@Pearceg97: All good and well but we need a sale in the next 7 days not someone considering other clubs aswell
@LiamOttewell: Hopefully this shows that there are a few buyers interested in us. Chansiri surely has to realise with our embargo etc our value is decreasing by the day. #swfc
@ELSFootball: Would be a positive that Chansiri would be no longer part of our club. However have my doubts about him, not particularly liked amongst fans with the other clubs he owns, Botofogo late wages, has changed RWD Molenbeek name, Lyon possible relegation. Whilst Lyon’s problems started before Textor came in, he has further escalated them. We can only hope if he comes in he has learnt from previous lessons. The fans would be delighted to have him, hopefully he doesn’t take this support and use it to his advantage.
@JOELH0LMES: Very very interesting… A man who clearly has the means to run the club, but also issues at Lyon Would take him 100% though
@isaacsimpsonn: Oh my god this is massive wtaf
@Jed_swfc: A bidding war is the last thing we need. If he smells blood and reckons he can get more by playing them off against each other, he’ll drag it out and there’s a strong chance we don’t start the season. Add to that Textor seems like an absolute crook #swfc
@RealTomGaynor: All this interest from Shaw and now Textor, I think Mandaric buys 51% of the club from Chansiri and that allows Chansiri to still be involved (why he wants to be I don’t know), and he’s more likely to deal with Mandaric, just my theory #swfc
@kelwillphill: Don’t claim to be a expert but those fans complaining re textor interest because of Lyon debt. Read into it not just the top line and also read into what’s been done at botafogo a club purchased in a similar state to #swfc. He might not be right for us but at least look deeper
@TherealRichieC: @Sjopinion10 must be on commission the way he’s touting Sheffield Wednesday to all his mates!
@added_on_time: This has @Sjopinion10 all over it and I’m all for it! Agent Jordan at it again!
@bg_swfc: John Textor should takeover 45% of Wednesday. Adam Shaw should takeover 45% of Wednesday. Then we should give the final 10% to Mandaric #SWFC
@lukestaniforth1: That’s a shame , when we make Europe we won’t be able to play in it
@TDWednesday: If Textor did take over us, we would become part of Eagle Football and be ‘multi-club’ – which means players can be moved between each club more easily, including youth players as well #swfc
@JonathanDaley: Personally I would prefer it to be a sole owner. Things are definitely looking up! #swfc
@Afoxich: like I said before interest be absolutely through the roof now. (As fans) no need to desperately wish the first offer to be successful. This is hopefully an opportunity for Sheffield Wednesday to progress over next 20 years not pay these wages and continue as we have 30yr #SWFC
@isaacsimpsonn: Being a Wednesday fan and the ultimate pessimist this is surly to good to be true. Could not possible ask for someone better to be in contention. #swfc
Looks like he’ll fit in well here… https://t.co/67AoKCZv6Y pic.twitter.com/7j4ZBcgO63

For what it’s worth I suspect John Textor will revisit one of the clubs he’s perused previously as a logical investment opportunity. Stranger things have happened though, so him showing an interest in #SWFC as he looks around at which clubs are available makes sense.
