Here’s how fans on Twitter reacted to the FA Cup First Round Proper draw…
@yorkymonkey: It shows you how much the BBC or ITV think about the FA Cup or lower league clubs when they can’t be arsed to show the draw. #FACup #nonleaguefootball
@NaomiOldham44: The FA Cup enthusiasm, which I’d been slowly building all day, quickly disappeared when a) I realised I’d missed the draw and b) I then saw who we got 😂 #oafc
@c21attridge95: The 1st & 3rd round draws of the #FACup would always be two of the most anticipated nights of the football season but can’t help but think they’ve now lost their shine because of who they’re being broadcast by. Still doesn’t feel right that the FA Cup is majorly behind a paywall
@ianmckee58: I think TNT needed to make more of this! It’s an absolutely massive draw for both teams a chance to knock out their biggest rivals in the first round of the FA Cup! Absolutely mental for the clubs
@cufc_tink: Reading away??!! Urgh!! #cufc #facup
@cufcdanny: Shite draw. Send the kids we need to focus on getting out this league #cufc #FACup
@CllrStubbsNUL: I genuinely love the FA Cup for fixtures like this one, Port Vale vs Maldon & Tiptree is great tie for both teams and may well ge on the TV given Vale’s facilities and @MaldonTiptreeFC being the lowest ranked team in the competition. #UTV
@jm_bell95: This has to be the worst cup draw of all time? All the league teams drawn against one another whilst the non-league teams take each other on?! How thoroughly dull. #FACup
@I_am_the_Paulus: South Shields v Shrewsbury Town screams giant killing #FACup

Chatham Town manager-chairman Kevin Hake spoke on the club reaching the FA Cup first round for the first time in 97 years.
He said per Kent Online: “It’s a completely different feeling.
“The club’s not been here for 100 years.
“I think of all those players, including myself, who weren’t successful in getting to the first round, and all the managers.
“But, more importantly, the people behind the scenes, like Barry Adams, who unfortunately couldn’t be here today, but he’s been at the club for 40 years.
“There’s supporters who’ve supported the club for 40, 50, 60 years and to be able to give them that is amazing.
“That’s more important than any promotion.
“It’s unbelievable. I’m really pleased for the boys.
“To get to the first round, it was one of the things we’ve been aiming for for a few seasons now.
“We’ve seen other clubs do it, Cray Valley, Sheppey and Ramsgate, and I’ve been immensely jealous.
“I said if we didn’t do it under my tenure, it would have been a failure, so I’m really pleased we’ve been able to get Chatham to the first round.
“It’s nothing short of what the town deserves.
“There’s 300,000 people in Medway and there’s not much to be happy about.
“But this hopefully will put smiles on a few faces now.
“You could see how passionate the fans were. They didn’t stop singing all game. It was great to see.
“We’ll have a great moment watching the draw, seeing who we’re going to get, and maybe have a drink.”
“We told the lads at half-time ‘go out and get a goal and then see how they like it’, said Hake.
“It was fortunate to get the first goal so soon but we said it was going to be a game we didn’t have to win in the first 10/15 minutes.
“The last 20 minutes of the first half, we drew a tremendous amount of strength from, and we took it into the half-time team-talk.
“We felt if we could come out with the same intensity, we’ve got half a chance.
“I fancy ourselves against anyone but it’s a great team and a great set-up here.
“They’ve got a good manager and they’re on a good run, so they’re in a real good momentum, but so are we.
“It’s just pleasing to be able to act out the game plan like we did.”
Maldon & Tiptree boss Kevin Horlock spoke after his ten-man side saw off Flackwell Heath to reach the FA Cup first round proper.
Interviewer: Emotions at the end of all that?
Kevin: I’m just proud of everybody. It didn’t go quite to plan today obviously with the sending off but we obviously got the goal, Sears does what Freddie Sears done and got us a goal up and second half we had to hang in there we’ve asked people to do different roles we were brave with it we went too up top to give us an out we didn’t want to just sit in and the lads give everything and they deserve everything they get.
Interviewer: What was your view of the sending off?
Kevin: He’s caught him. I didn’t realise that would be a straight red, if I’m totally honest, but apparently it is. The lads got their first to head it and Zach’s already committed to kicking the ball and it is what it is. It changed our outlook and our plan for the game, if I’m totally honest. But we reshuffled, we regrouped at half-time, we spoke about what we were going to do going forward and it worked perfectly.
Interviewer: A man down, but it’s still a goal up, thanks to your goalkeeper.
Kevin: Yeah, he’s been massive for us this season. He was a big, big signing for us. Why we wanted to bring him into the football club. We’re lucky to have him at this level and at our football club. Days like today are made for players like that, that have been there, they’ve got the experience and they’re at different level. So, yeah, he got through and over the line.
Interviewer: Were you expecting him to throw more at you?
Kevin: We knew they were going to have possession. Obviously, with a man down, you can always find the space in areas where there’s a man missing. I just wanted us to be strong and compact and together. But had that little bit of a threat. Mac has come on and obviously played his first game since the playoff final, I think, so he was absolutely breathing out of his backside, but that’s to be expected. I thought physically he flicked things on. We still had a couple of chances. I know they were fighting everything out here, but we weathered what they had and we in the next round.
Interviewer: Where you going to watch the draw?
Kevin: I don’t know, I might even drive and watch it live. I’m not sure but yeah, can enjoy it. We could we can watch it and whoever we get we know is gonna be a step up from our level, the lowest ranked team in it now, but on our day on our day we can we can beat anybody so we give it a right good go
