October 18th: Saturday’s Premier League Double – 4/1 Special, Betting Tips & Predictions

SoccerNews Daily Double

With England’s elite marking their return from October’s international break this weekend, we have a stacked Saturday schedule on the cards.

As title contenders Arsenal look to extend their buffer over the chasing pack, we have seven top-flight showdowns on the cards across Saturday afternoon.

For those of you looking to put on a weekend flutter, we have taken a glance at some of Saturday’s most attractive Premier League betting tips.

12:30 Nottingham Forest vs Chelsea

While Chelsea might have struggled to find much stability since opening up the new campaign, Enzo Maresca’s camp entered October’s fortnight interval with a heavyweight scalp in west London. Snatching a sensational last-gasp 2-1 victory at home against defending Premier League champions Liverpool, Saturday’s guests should be smelling a real opportunity here. Putting a maiden Champions League win on the board earlier in the month as they clinched a 1-0 victory against Portuguese outfit Benfica, the Blues have won three of their previous four appearances across all competitions. However, falling to a shock 3-1 drumming at the hands of Brighton on September 27th, Maresca’s side are searching for some crucial defensive steel. Getting their European adventure underway with another 3-1 loss against German giants Bayern Munich last month, Chelsea have mustered just a sole clean sheet from any of their previous seven consecutive outings. Likewise, Saturday’s guests have also failed to land a single clean sheet on their travels since opening up the new campaign.

Although Ange Postecoglou might have arrived at the City Ground less than a month ago, the former Tottenham boss already finds the pressure on his shoulders at a boiling point. In fact, it has been suggested that another defeat on Saturday lunchtime could be the final nail in Postecoglou’s coffin. Heading into October’s international break with a 2-0 loss away at Newcastle, Nottingham Forest have come crashing back down to earth since their record-breaking run last season. Getting October underway with an infamous 3-2 loss at home against Danish outfit Midtjylland, Saturday’s hosts have lost all of their previous three appearances across all competitions by an aggregate score of 6-2. Likewise, watching their EFL Cup adventure come to a shock end on September 17th as they slumped to a 3-2 defeat away at Championship side Swansea, Forest have also failed to win any of their last nine consecutive outings – a rut that stems back to the opening weekend.

15:00 Burnley vs Leeds

While Leeds might have laid down a real marker on September 20th as they secured a thrilling 3-1 victory away at Wolves, Daniel Farke’s side have failed to find any real stability since making their Premier League return. Last seen heading into October’s fortnight interval with a 2-1 defeat at home against Tottenham, Saturday’s guests have mustered just a single win from any of their previous seven appearances across all competitions. Suffering a major EFL Cup upset away at Championship strugglers Sheffield Wednesday on August 26th as they suffered penalty shootout frustration at Hillsborough, the former Norwich boss will be more than aware that his squad faces a real relegation six-pointer here. Last seen outside of Yorkshire storming their way to that 3-1 win against Wolves, Farke’s men should be excited by an impressive record at Turf Moor. In fact, Leeds are unbeaten in their previous four trips to Burnley across all formats (two wins, two draws).

Although Burnley might have followed Leeds in making their respective Premier League return this season, it is no secret that the Clarets are pencilled in as a standout relegation candidate this time around. Heading into October’s fortnight interval with a 2-1 loss away at Aston Villa, Scott Parker’s side mark their return this weekend sat in the drop zone having collected just four points from their first seven Premier League appearances. Signing off September with a frantic 5-1 drumming against Manchester City, Saturday’s hosts have lost their previous three appearances across all competitions by an aggregate score of 9-3. Suffering their own EFL Cup exit at the hands of Championship outfit Cardiff on September 23rd, Burnley have also failed to win any of their last six outings (five defeats, one draw). Likewise, already shipping 15 Premier League goals so far this season, Parker’s leaky defence hold the second-worst defensive tally among England’s elite.
