Bologna know that a victory would take them into joint second place with Inter and Roma, but Jamie Vardy’s Cremonese need points too after a negative run of results.
It kicks off at the Stadio Dall’Ara at 19.45 GMT.
This fixture concludes Serie A Week 13 and a home win would create a wild situation with the top five teams within a one-point radius.
Vincenzo Italiano’s side are on a roll at the moment, unbeaten in all competition since the 1-0 defeat at Aston Villa on September 25, amassing seven victories and five draws.
They are fresh off wins against Napoli and Udinese in Serie A, then thrashed RB Salzburg 4-1 in the Europa League on Thursday.
Lukasz Skorupski, Remo Freuler, Martin Vitik and Ciro Immobile are still out of action, but Jonathan Rowe and Nicolò Cambiaghi return to the bench.
Cremonese had a wonderful start to the campaign following promotion from Serie B and the appointment of new coach Davide Nicola, including wins over Milan and Sassuolo.
They went on a streak of stalemates, but have now lost three on the bounce to Juventus, Pisa and Roma.
Michele Collocolo and Mikayil Faye miss out, with Faris Moumbagna nowhere near fully fit, but Alessio Zerbin and Martin Payero are back in the squad.
Vardy leads the attack with Federico Bonazzoli rather than Franco Vasquez.
