Tributes pour in from the world of football as Liverpool player Diogo Jota dies in a tragic car accident aged 28.
He and his brother André Silva sadly passed away early this morning in a traffic accident in the province of Zamora, MARCA first reported.
The accident occurred at at mile 40 (kilometer 65) of the A-52, near the region of Sanabria, near Zamora.
The Liverpool player died when the vehicle he was traveling in with his brother André, a 26-year-old professional footballer with Portuguese second-tier club Penafiel, went off the road, causing a fire.
The Guardia Civil has said to BBC Sport that Jota and his brother died at about 00:30 local time on Thursday.
They said that their car, a Lamborghini, left the road due to a tyre blow-out while overtaking another vehicle and then caught fire.
The tragic news comes just two weeks after Jota married his long-term girlfriend Rute Cardoso in Porto.
