While the January transfer window might remain open for almost the next fortnight, Premier League clubs from up and down the country will already have one eye on the summer.
Although England’s elite might have continued to shatter a string of financial records, a number of the Premier League’s biggest names could be set to leave on a free transfer.
With plenty of top-flight superstars now free to agree pre-contract agreements with other clubs from across the continent, we have taken a look at some of the Premier League aces who have under six months remaining on their respective current deals.
Ibrahima Konate – Liverpool
While Ibrahima Konate might have played a leading role last season as Liverpool got their hands on a record-breaking 20th domestic crown, the French international has come under plenty of scrutiny this time around.
With Arne Slot’s side already accepting that they will relinquish their Premier League title in 2026, the former RB Leipzig star also finds himself at the heart of an ongoing transfer saga.
Although the Anfield hierarchy might have made it abundantly clear that they want the 26-year-old to extend his stay in the red half of Merseyside, Konate has publicly rejected all advances.
With it reported that both parties have become increasingly frustrated, Konate has remained heavily linked with a blockbuster move to Spanish icons Real Madrid over the past 12 months.
Watching Liverpool academy graduate and England international Trent Alexander-Arnold complete his own controversial free switch to the Bernabeu last summer, Los Blancos have already held multiple conversations with Konate’s representatives.
While the reigning Premier League champions might have made it clear that the 26-cap international will not be allowed to leave Anfield this month, Konate’s future is still firmly up in the air.
🚨 Ibrahima Konaté on his contract due to expire in June: “I’ve seen a lot of things in the press recently. I don’t know where that’s coming from”.

Casemiro – Manchester United
Although Casemiro might be set to turn 34 next month, there are large sections of the Manchester United fanbase who are demanding that the Old Trafford hierarchy agree to extend the Brazilian’s tenure.
However, although the former Real Madrid midfielder might be enjoying what has been arguably his most dominant spell in the red half of Manchester, he is reportedly earning in the region of £350,000-per-week.
Although there might remain plenty of Saudi clubs who are waiting in the wings, Casemiro’s future is yet to be decided and neither party has ruled out agreeing on a potential new deal.
Reports over the past week have suggested that the five-time Champions League winner does have the ability to extend his stay at Old Trafford for a further season if specific contract clauses are met.
Starting in 19 of Man United’s 22 Premier League appearances so far this season – after missing two through suspension – it was reported over the weekend that Casemiro would trigger an additional 12 months if he makes 35 top-flight starts come the end of the 2025/26 campaign.
EXCL: Casemiro can trigger extra-year option in his #MUFC contract by starting a certain amount of games this season.
Figure believed to be 35, so would require every XI from now on.
Seen as highly unlikely, but he has been Prem regular.

Bernardo Silva – Manchester City
Although it might not have been officially confirmed that Bernardo Silva will be leaving Manchester City this summer, it appears almost a certainty that the Portuguese playmaker will be ending his nine-year spell at the Etihad.
Cementing his spot as a modern era icon in the blue half of Manchester after arriving from Monaco back in 2017, the 31-year-old has been a key figure for Pep Guardiola’s side over almost the past decade.
Making 436 appearances for the Sky Blues and registering 149 direct goal contributions, Silva has claimed 17 pieces of silverware during his record-breaking stint in Manchester.
Lifting six domestic titles and also helping guide City to a maiden Champions League crown three years ago, Silva has been heavily linked with the likes of PSG and Barcelona over recent times.
While the 107-cap Portugal international might have eventually fended off any interest over the past two years, it has been widely suggested that both parties have already agreed that they will part ways at the end of the 2025/26 campaign.
Alongside speculation over what would be a bank-breaking move to the Middle East, it has also been speculated that Turkish giants Galatasaray are keen on striking a free deal.
Pep Guardiola: “You cannot imagine what a player Bernardo Silva is! This club will miss him! Hopefully he can extend for I don’t know how many centuries.
Special. That guy [shows] what does it mean to play football and be a competitor; that guy knows all the rules. Absolutely… pic.twitter.com/6VaChwIcHP
