In a nail-biting second T20I match in Dhaka, Bangladesh, they held their nerve to outclass Pakistan by 8 runs to take an unbeatable 2-0 lead in the ongoing three-match T20I series. After Pakistan lost the T20I series to Bangladesh, Babar Azam has been trending on social media.
Babar Azam, along with Mohammad Rizwan, has been sidelined from Pakistan’s T20I team since last December because of their old-school approach to the fastest-evolving format of the game. Salman Ali Agha was handed the reins of Pakistan’s young T20I team.
Babar Azam trends online after Bangladesh stuns Pakistan in T20I series
They have been excelling at home, but there is no improvement in the away T20Is. The Men in Green had crushed the Tigers earlier this year at home in the T20I series, but in the ongoing series in Dhaka, they are looking completely offbeat across the formats.

After Pakistan’s back-to-back defeats on the ongoing Bangladesh tour, memes involving Babar Azam have been going viral online, with some posts showing how the former captain is enjoying the downfall of the Men in Green in the shorter format of the game.
However, some Pakistani fans slammed the PCB and national selectors for sidelining a world-class batter despite his stunning stats in the T20Is. Many fans have been slamming the think tank by saying Babar was never a problem in the format, as they need an anchor of the latter’s caliber at the side.

Babar playing slow isn’t the problem.
Context matters. Sometimes stability is what the team needs.

Bangladesh crushes Pakistan in another T20I thriller
Earlier, Pakistan’s bowlers looked sharp and disciplined, striking early and pushing Bangladesh onto the back foot after opting to bowl first in the second T20I on July 22. But just when the hosts needed someone to step up, Jaker Ali played an impressive knock of 55 runs off 48 balls under pressure, and Mahedi Hasan chipped in with a useful cameo of 33 runs off 25 balls.

Their efforts helped Bangladesh post a fighting total of 133 runs on the board. Salman Mirza, Ahmed Daniyal, and Abbas Afridi each scalped two wickets for Pakistan. Chasing the paltry target, Pakistan looked comfortable at first, but the run-out of Saim Ayub triggered a collapse.
Shoriful Islam shines with the ball for Bangladesh
Bangladesh made the most of the momentum. With fiery pace and pinpoint accuracy, they rattled Pakistan’s top order during the powerplay, making life miserable for the batters. Despite the pressure, Faheem Ashraf (51) and Abbas Afridi (19) gave Pakistan hope with a fearless counterattack.
Their partnership gave Pakistan hope, but the Bangladesh bowlers held their nerves and dramatically clinched the win. Shoriful Islam was the standout bowler for the Tigers with three wickets for 17, while Mahedi Hasan and Tanzim Hasan Sakib each scalped two wickets in Dhaka.
