Rohit announced his retirement from Test cricket in May this year, just before India’s ongoing Test tour of England. He had already retired from T20I cricket after winning the T20 World Cup in 2024. The Hitman finished his Test career with 4301 runs in 67 games with an average of 40.57.

His highest score in test matches was 212. The right-handed batter also led India in 24 matches, winning 12, losing 9, and drawing 3 games in the longest format of the game. On the other hand, Rohit finished his T20I career as the leading run scorer with 4,231 runs in 159 games.

Kieron Pollard confident Rohit Sharma will shine in ODI cricket

The Indian opener, who won the T20 World Cup and the Champions Trophy as captain, also has the most centuries in T20Is, with five. As captain, he led India in 51 T20I matches and won 39 of them.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma will continue to lead the Indian cricket team in One-Day Internationals (ODIs).

And Pollard believes that Rohit’s hunger to score runs and perform at the highest level remains strong, and he will continue giving his best for the country in ODI cricket.

Pollard further said of Rohit, “He’s still going to represent India in the 50-over format of cricket. I don’t see him changing the hunger and desire not to score runs. He wants to come out and perform and do well.”
