England dominate with the bat
India were invited to bat first in the match after losing their fourth consecutive toss. KL Rahul (46) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (58) negated the threat of the new ball very well to lay a platform for a big score.
Captain Shubman Gill (12) didn’t score big, but Sai Sudharsan (61) hit a brilliant fifty, and wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant slammed 54 runs despite a fractured foot.
From lower-order decent contributions came from Shardul Thakur (41), Washington Sundar (27), and Ravindra Jadeja (20) as India posted 358 runs on the board.
Then, with the ball, India had a nightmarish outing. Even in the presence of Jasprit Bumrah, India were taken to cleaners by the English batsmen and were made to look clueless.
England posted a massive score of 669 on the board and took a 311-run lead, thanks to excellent batting performances from Joe Root (150), Ben Stokes (141), Ben Duckett (94), and Zak Crawley (84).
Ravindra Jadeja (4), Jasprit Bumrah (2), Washington Sundar (2), Anshul Kamboj (1), and Mohammed Siraj (1) were among the wickets for India.
Jadeja, Gill, Sundar, and Rahul help India draw the match
In the third innings of the fourth match, India got off to a horrible start as Chris Woakes removed both Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sai Sudharsan at the score of 0.
It looked like the match would finish on Day 4 itself, but Shubman Gill and KL Rahul didn’t let that happen. The in-form India batters showed their class and guided India to 174/2 at the end of the day.
On the final day’s plays, Rahul and Gill continued their batting brilliance and took India to a strong position. Although Rahul got out for 90, Gill completed his century.
After the dismissal of the duo, all-rounders Washington Sundar and Ravindra Jadeja joined forces and displayed an unbelievable performance.
Sundar and Jadeja hit brilliant centuries after rejecting Ben Stokes’ handshake, and India eventually finished with 425/4 as the match ended in a draw.
Here’s How X Reacted To India Drawing The Manchester Test:
Pretty good fight to get the draw. Especially after trailing by 311 runs and being 0/2 after the first over. And frustrated England in the process, funnily.
The drama resumes in three days. #ENGvsIND

THE GREAT INDIAN ESCAPE: 0-2 and more than 300 runs behind with 5 sessions left, one batsman injured, then to come up with a draw where England threw in the towel, is a simply WOW effort. We now have a test series to even up at Oval: superbly played India, @imjadeja @Sundarwashi5…

Well done lads! If you still have any doubts about Washington Sundar, put that in the bin. A player for all-formats.

Fantastic batting from India to save this Test from 0-2. We know how good Jadeja is, but Washington Sundar is just a brilliant, battling cricketer, built for these sort of challenges. All set up pretty perfectly for the Oval, where – after 20 days – both teams will be *knackered*

It should feel like a win for India. They fought against all the odds. Jadeja and Washington deserved those hundreds too. #ENGvsIND

Should’ve not shook hands even after the centuries, honestly. Should’ve made these entitled pricks bowl until the very last ball of the day. pic.twitter.com/FWefvrHfgr
