AB de Villiers unleashed a storm that left Pakistan Champions stunned and searching for answers in the final showdown of the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025. Displaying vintage flair and fearless strokeplay, the South African legend powered the chase with ease, guiding his team to a commanding 9-wicket victory and sealing the title in truly dominant fashion.

Sharjeel Khan powers Pakistan to a formidable total

Pakistan, after choosing to bat first, continued their scintillating form with the bat. Opener Sharjeel Khan led the charge with a blistering 76 off just 44 balls, laying a solid foundation for a big score. The momentum was maintained by Umar Amin and Asif Ali, whose quickfire cameos down the order powered Pakistan to a formidable 195 for 5 in the final.

In reply, South Africa’s bowling unit had moments of brilliance. Hardus Viljoen and Wayne Parnell were the standout performers, picking up two wickets each and applying some pressure. However, the rest of the bowlers struggled to find their rhythm or answers to Pakistan’s aggressive batting.

In reply, after Hashim Amla was dismissed by Saeed Ajmal for 18, de Villiers took complete charge of the chase. The Proteas legend played a breathtaking innings, smashing an unbeaten 129 runs off just 60 balls, laced with 12 boundaries and 7 towering sixes. He was well supported by JP Duminy, who hammered a quick 50 off 28 balls. Together, they chased down the 196-run target with ease, sealing the win in just 16.5 overs.

It was a forgettable outing with the ball for Pakistan. Except for Ajmal who claimed the lone wicket none of the bowlers managed a breakthrough. The rest looked clueless and expensive, with Rumman Raees, Imad Wasim, and Wahab Riaz all leaking runs as South Africa chased down the target effortlessly.
