A massive update has arrived regarding the situation at the Rajasthan Royals (RR) amid the reports of their skipper Sanju Samson’s desire to leave the franchise.
Reportedly, Sanju Samson’s departure has triggered more players to leave the Rajasthan Royals (RR), and one such player who wanted out was Yashasvi Jaiswal.
Chaos at Rajasthan Royals as Sanju Samson set to leave
Several media outlets have reported that the relationship between Sanju Samson and the Rajasthan Royals has gotten sour, and the Kerala superstar is set to leave the franchise.
Your daily dose of cricket!
He was the first retention of the Rajasthan Royals ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction and was paid INR 18 crore. Sanju Samson has already asked for his release from the Rajasthan Royals due to ‘serious differences’ with the team management.
Samson also planned RR’s auction strategy alongside head coach Rahul Dravid, but he was left furious when Jos Buttler was not retained.
Since Samson expressed his desire to leave, the Rajasthan Royals have been looking for options to part ways with him via trade, and it has been reported that they are close to signing a deal with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
Dhruv Jurel is planning to leave the Rajasthan Royals
Even after Sanju Samson’s exit, Rajasthan Royals would have thought that they wouldn’t be majorly affected in terms of wicketkeeping options because they have talented wicketkeeper-batsman Dhruv Jurel in the line-up.
The 24-year-old Uttar Pradesh star Dhruv Jurel is unarguably one for the future, and he is currently Rishabh Pant’s understudy in the Test team and possesses the ability to one day become India’s first-choice wicketkeeper-batsman in white-ball cricket as well.
However, in a massive blow for the Rajasthan Royals, he is also planning to leave the franchise. According to a RevSportz journalist, Dhruv Jurel can join Sanju Samson in exit ahead of IPL 2026.
“Let me take the name. I have heard that Dhruv Jurel is also planning to go. Dhruv Jurel can also be seen leaving the team,” RevSportz journalist Rohit Juglan said.

Yashasvi Jaiswal wanted to leave RR, but received a captaincy offer
Another big name that contemplated his Rajasthan Royals (RR) exit is none other than the batting sensation Yashasvi Jaiswal. As per the same journalist, Jaiswal made up his mind to leave, but the franchise didn’t want that to happen.
Hence, Rajasthan Royals made him the captaincy offer to stay, and Yashasvi Jaiswal is likely to be seen in a leadership role in IPL 2026, over Riyan Parag, who led the team in IPL 2025 in the matches that Sanju Samson missed.
“I have heard that Yashasvi Jaiswal was about to leave, but was promised captaincy. Now, will Riyan Parag become the captain or Yashasvi Jaiswal? I feel at this time is that you will see Yashasvi Jaiswal as the captain of Rajasthan Royals. I have this information in today’s date,” he further said.
“In the coming time, who knows if Rajasthan Royals will buy a player in the auction or gets a trade or if there is a player in the auction whom they want to make captain. But I think if you want to stop Jaiswal, then you have to make him the captain. It’s very clear now. Because Jaiswal needs captaincy now.”
