ODI Asia Cup Strike Rate Records

Sanath Jayasuriya has the highest batting strike rate in the ODI Asia Cup (minimum 500 balls faced). He struck at 102.52 while scoring 1220 runs in 24 innings. Jayasuriya’s 1220 runs are also the most by a batter in Asia Cup history.

As a pure opener, Jayasuriya’s strike rate improves slightly. He opened in 22 of the 24 innings, aggregating 1192 runs off 1159 balls at a strike rate of 102.84. The left-hander is the only opener to strike above 100 in the ODI Asia Cup.


Notable Records by Role

Rohit Sharma has the highest strike rate as a captain in the ODI Asia Cup. He amassed 511 runs from 519 balls in 10 innings at a strike rate of 98.45 as India’s skipper.

MS Dhoni has struck at the highest rate as a wicketkeeper in the ODI tournament. He struck at 87.68 while accruing 648 runs off 739 balls in 16 innings.


Explosive Innings

Shahid Afridi has logged the highest strike rate in a single ODI Asia Cup edition. He struck at 164.59 while scoring 265 runs off 161 balls in three innings in 2010.

In the same edition, Afridi also recorded the highest strike rate in an innings in the ODI Asia Cup (minimum 50 balls faced). He smashed 124 runs from 60 deliveries at a strike rate of 206.66 against Bangladesh. Afridi reached the 100-run mark off 53 balls, the fastest century in the ODI Asia Cup. Bangladesh’s Athar Ali Khan’s strike rate of 57.41 is the lowest in the ODI Asia Cup among batters who have played a minimum of 500 balls.

Rohit Sharma, who has collectively played the most matches in the ODI and T20I Asia Cups combined, struck at 141.14 in the T20 Asia Cup, the highest strike rate by an opener. He scored 271 runs off 192 balls in nine innings as India’s opener.

Sharma also has the highest strike rate as a captain in the T20I tournament (minimum 50 balls faced). He struck at 151.13 while smashing 133 runs off 88 balls in four innings.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Kusal Mendis are the two wicketkeepers with a 150+ strike rate in the T20 Asia Cup (minimum 50 balls faced).


Most Explosive Batting Performances

Mahmudullah’s strike rate of 165.75 is the highest in a single T20 Asia Cup edition (minimum 50 balls faced). The former Bangladeshi batter amassed 121 runs off 73 balls across five innings in the 2016 edition.

Suryakumar Yadav’s strike rate of 261.53 against Hong Kong (68* off 26) is the highest in an innings in the T20 Asia Cup (minimum 10 balls played).

Surya raised his fifty in 22 deliveries against Hong Kong, the joint-fastest in the T20I tournament.


Other Notable Stats

UAE’s Mohammad Kaleem’s strike rate of 85.57 is the lowest by a batter in the T20 Asia Cup (minimum 100 balls faced).

Virat Kohli averaged 85.80 in the T20I tournament, the highest among batters who have scored a minimum of 100 runs. He aggregated 429 runs in nine innings with four unbeaten knocks.
