The India National Cricket Team has suffered a major setback as star all-rounder Hardik Pandya will miss the upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia, starting October 19 in Perth. Hardik Pandya already missed the Asia Cup 2025 final that India won by five wickets against Pakistan.
Hardik suffered a left quadriceps injury during India’s last Super Four clash against Sri Lanka at the Asia Cup 2025, forcing him to sit out the thrilling yet controversial final against Pakistan. The injury is serious, and the star all-rounder has reportedly been advised at least four weeks of rest.
India hit hard as Hardik Pandya is sidelined for the Australia ODIs
This ruled Pandya out of the upcoming three-match ODI series in Australia. However, there is still a chance that the star all-rounder could return for the five-match T20I series against Australia, starting October 29 in Hobart, only if he manages to attain full fitness in time.

Hardik Pandya shines as frontline bowler at Asia Cup 2025
Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya had been a key frontline pacer throughout the Asia Cup 2025. The star all-rounder had taken responsibility for bowling in the powerplay as well as at the death, but he was forced off the field after bowling just one over against Sri Lanka.
Later, Pandya was replaced in India’s playing XI by Rinku Singh, who had not played a single match in the tournament up to that point, in the Asia Cup 2025 final against Pakistan. In a dramatic twist, Rinku faced only one delivery and struck it for the winning runs, handing India a thrilling five-wicket victory over Pakistan to lift the Asia Cup trophy for the ninth time.
Recently, Pandya admitted that he was gutted after missing “the most important game” of the Asia Cup 2025. However, he hailed his teammates for their outstanding efforts against Pakistan.

Hardik Pandya opens up about missing Asia Cup 2025 final and his No.1 priority
Pandya said in a video shared by the BCCI, “I was very gutted to miss the most important game, but the way the boys played was outstanding. They showed a lot of character.”
He scalped four wickets in six matches at an economy of 8.57 while sharing the new-ball duties with Jasprit Bumrah. Speaking on the same, Pandya said, “I have always enjoyed any role that I am given, and this time I was handed over the new ball, which I really enjoyed. Batting has always been there, whenever the team requires, as that’s the way I like to bat.”
Furthermore, the pace bowling all-rounder has made it clear that bowling is “No. 1 priority” for him, and he is treating himself as a “pure fast bowler.” Pandya signed off by saying, “If Hardik Pandya bowls, then batting is never a problem. It’s a lot of hard work and a lot of discipline, and it has been a constant, which I really enjoy.”
