Women’s cricket is slowly gaining popularity, and the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 is proof of the same. With a path-breaking rise in viewership, the ICC has recorded the India vs Pakistan Women’s match as having broken all digital viewing records.
The ICC Women’s World Cup returned to India after a very long time, and the Indians have embraced this opportunity to witness and cheer the Women in Blue with open arms. The Stadiums have been lit up by audiences storming in across the nation, especially for the Indian games.
Unlike India, Sri Lanka, which is hosting its maiden ICC Women’s event, has not recorded such huge audiences, though the weather also has had a role in it. However, there has still been a much better reception for this edition of the Women’s World Cup.

India vs Pakistan Women’s World Cup match sets new standards for Women’s Cricket
The India vs Pakistan match played on the 5th of October at Colombo has broken all digital records with “a reach of 28.4 million and 1.87 billion minutes consumed, making it the most-watched women’s international cricket match of all time,” as claimed in an ICC statement on Thursday.
Though the Indian vs Pakistan match might have been the most standout fixture in terms of viewership, the other big positive is that the first half of the league stage of the World Cup has delivered “record-breaking numbers across digital and linear platforms”, as informed by the ICC.
The India vs Pakistan game has also become the highest-rated league match in the history of the Women’s World Cup based on TV viewership. The first 11 league matches, including three matches for India, recorded a reach of 72 million. The ICC further added, “a 166% increase from the previous edition.” Also, “viewing minutes surged 327% to 6.3 billion.”
JioStar records peak viewership for ICC Women’s World Cup 2025
Other than the viewership records, a joint data release by both the ICC and the official online streaming partner JioStar shows that the first 13 matches have reached over 60 million viewers and have a watch time of over 7 billion.
“According to data released jointly by ICC and JioHotstar, the first 13 matches of the tournament have already reached over 60 million viewers, a five-fold increase over the 2022 edition, while total watch-time has hit 7 billion minutes, up 12 times from the previous tournament,” an ICC statement said.
They have also added that the thrilling contest between India and Australia on the 12th of October “recorded 4.8 million peak concurrent viewers on JioHotstar, another all-time high for women’s cricket.”
Australian Women emerge as first semi-finalists of WWC 2025
The Australian women are considered the one-sided favorites of any ICC event in Women’s cricket, and they have proved why they are the World Champions side over and over again. The 7-time ICC World Cup champions, Australia, have slandered their opposition yet again and entered the semi-finals with grace.
Undefeated so far in the competition, they have won 4 of their 5 games, with the games against Sri Lanka washed out by rain. Australia defeated Bangladesh Women by a huge 10-wicket margin, with skipper Alyssa Healy hitting her second hundred in this edition of the World Cup.
Healy’s return to form, alongside the likes of Phoebe Litchfield, Beth Mooney, and Ashleigh Gardner, would be the cherry on top for the Australian side chasing their 8th World Cup title. They are the first team to have entered the semis already.
