Fans erupt as IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans lift maiden TNPL title after Ravichandran Ashwin’s Dindigul Dragons falter in high-pressure clash

IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans (ITT) delivered a resounding performance to lift their maiden Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) title, thrashing Dindigul Dragons (DD) by 118 runs in the 2025 final. It was a comprehensive all-round display, with ITT outplaying DD in all three departments in the high-stakes clash.

Amit Sathvik and Tushar Raheja shine as they power Tiruppur to a massive total

After winning the toss,  Dragons skipper Ravichandran Ashwin chose to bowl first, but it didn’t went well. IDream made the most of the opportunity, with openers Amit Sathvik and Tushar Raheja putting on a brilliant 121-run stand. Both batters brought up solid half-centuries, setting the tone for a big total. Raheja led the charge with a blazing 77 off 46 balls, taking on the bowlers with confidence.

Despite having an experienced bowling unit, DD struggled to contain the flow of runs. M Karthik Saran picked up two wickets, but the pressure never eased. ITT finished with an imposing 220 for 5. Ashwin went wicketless, conceding 36 runs, while Varun Chakaravarthy and Bhuvneshwar Venkatesh managed a wicket each. Overall, the Dragons’ attack lacked penetration, allowing Tiruppur to completely dominate the first half of the final.

Ravichandran Ashwin-led batting lineup crumbled under pressure

Chasing a daunting target, DD innings fell apart quickly as they struggled under pressure. Ashwin was the first to fall, dismissed for just 1 run by R Silambarasan in the second over. Baba Indrajith followed soon after, bowled by T Natarajan, and Vimal Khumar was also sent back cheaply by Silambarasan. Dindigul lost three wickets inside the powerplay and never really recovered from the early collapse.

Esakkimuthu A starred with the ball, picking up two wickets, including  Chakaravarthy. Mohan Prasath also chipped in with two, while Sai Kishore delivered a miserly spell, giving away just 20 in his four overs. Dindigul were eventually bundled out for just 102 in 14.4 overs, with only a couple of batters crossing double digits. It was a tame end to the chase, as Tiruppur’s bowlers maintained complete control to seal a historic win.
