Schedule Unveiled for 2025 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup

ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 Schedule has been Announced.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially released the full schedule for the 13th edition of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025. This year’s prestigious tournament will be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka from September 30 to November 2, 2025.

Key Opening Fixtures & Defending Champions

  • The tournament kicks off with India vs Sri Lanka on September 30 at Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
  • Australia, the defending champions, begin their campaign on October 1 against New Zealand at the Holkar Stadium in Indore.
  • Australia will look to secure a historic eighth World Cup title, continuing their dominance in women’s cricket.

Venues & Hybrid Hosting Model

The 2025 Women’s World Cup will be held across five venues:

  • India: Bengaluru, Indore, Guwahati, Visakhapatnam
  • Sri Lanka: Colombo (R. Premadasa Stadium)

Due to ongoing diplomatic arrangements, a hybrid model has been introduced: Pakistan will play all its group-stage matches in Colombo, avoiding travel to India.

Tournament Format & Match Timing

  • A total of 8 teams will compete in a single round-robin format, with the top four qualifying for the semi-finals.
  • Each team will also play two warm-up matches starting September 24, including high-voltage clashes like India vs England (Bengaluru) and India vs South Africa (Guwahati).
  • Semi-finals are scheduled for October 29 (Guwahati/Colombo) and October 30 (Bengaluru).
  • The Final will be held on November 2, either in Bengaluru or Colombo, depending on group standings.

Key Group-Stage Fixtures

The 28-match group phase is set to deliver high-octane action. Some marquee encounters include:

  • Bangladesh vs Pakistan – October 2, Colombo
  • England vs South Africa – October 3, Bengaluru
  • India vs Pakistan – October 5, Colombo
  • Australia vs England – October 14, Guwahati
  • India vs Bangladesh – October 26, Bengaluru

ICC Chair Jay Shah’s Statement

ICC Chair Jay Shah expressed his excitement about the announcement, saying:

“The 2025 Women’s World Cup promises to break records and set new standards. With a packed calendar and electrifying match-ups, we expect an unforgettable global tournament.”

Why This Matters

  • Dual Hosting: India and Sri Lanka to jointly host the landmark tournament.
  • Hybrid Format: Pakistan matches isolated to Sri Lanka due to political sensitivities.
  • High-Stakes Cricket: Top eight women’s teams to battle in round-robin + knockouts.
  • Global Viewership Potential: Featuring crowd-pulling clashes like IND vs PAK and AUS vs ENG.
  • Historic Venues: Iconic Indian and Sri Lankan stadiums set to welcome international stars.
