November 21, 2025 — Friday Statwatch for games played through Nov. 16

It has been a pretty amazing season in field hockey, with champions galore, first-time major trophy winners, and statistical achievements. Of course, given the fact that our sources of information have dwindled down to a precious few, we’ve gotten some additional information over the last few weeks.

One fact is that senior Kira Trader, a superb central midfielder from Yorktown Tabb (Va.) became one of two scholastic field hockey players (Adelaide Minnella of West Essex is the other) to attain 100 goals and 100 assists in a career. There are only 14 players in scholastic field hockey history to have ever done that.

Too, Trader was able to tie Cassidy Goodwin of Gloucester (Va.) for the all-time single-season lead in assists. She managed her 56th and final assist of the season in the most crucual of situations. Herwith a low, hard pass to the stroke mark in the 56th minute of the VHSL Class 3 state final found teammate Kennedy Parlett for the deflection over the goal line to win the game.

That win also was of statistical significance: Tabb kept its remarkable win streak alive at 113. The Tigers would need to win its first 12 matches of the 2026 season in order to exceed the current national mark of 124 by Watertown (Mass.).

We thank those news sources and citizen journalists who have been feeding us information this year, but we would like to do better; if your team can adopt the easy-to-use MaxPreps.com platform, it would help. I encourage you to get your fellow teams to enter their information there as well as whichever is your local news site, so that we can aim for as complete a statistical picture of the country as possible.

As usual, if you see something amiss, misplaced, or off-base, please feel free to send an email to us at TopOfTheCircle.com. Include some backup (a website link will do), and we can ensure the missing player gets proper credit.

This will be the last of our weekly Statwatch features and we’ll have our yearly (and hopefully more complete) Final Statwatch in December.
