Bioenergy Australia
Low-carbon fuels and gas will be a flagship theme of Climate Action Week Sydney 2026 (CAWSYD26), as Bioenergy Australia today announces a strategic partnership for the 2026 Renewable Fuels Summit (formerly Renewable Fuels Week).
The 2026 Renewable Fuels Summit will focus on future-proofing Australian industries, regions, climate goals and energy security. Over 500 national and global industry leaders, government representatives, investors, and international ministers will unite to accelerate the transition to a low-carbon, resilient economy ahead of COP31.
As a major event series within CAWSYD26, the Summit positions Sydney as a national hub for climate innovation, showcasing the critical role of low carbon liquid fuels and renewable gas in driving Australia’s net-zero ambitions. The announcement comes as the government recently committed $1.1 billion to accelerate low-carbon liquid fuel supply, supporting decarbonisation across key industries nationwide.
Running from 10–12 March 2026 at Sydney Town Hall, the Summit will mark its fourth annual edition and feature panels, events, and networking opportunities exploring investment pathways, policy development, and technology solutions. Delegates will also gain access to a broader program of cross-sector climate events and collaboration opportunities through CAWSYD26.
The Renewable Fuels Summit consistently attracts hundreds of attendees, international speakers, and strong government engagement, including international delegations from the US, Europe, and Asia anticipated. Combined with CAWSYD26’s global reach, the partnership offers a high-profile platform to showcase Australia’s renewable fuels leadership and sector innovation.
“Momentum for Australia’s low-carbon fuels and gas sector has never been stronger. Renewable fuels and gas are absolutely critical to Australia’s net-zero future, creating jobs, supporting regional economies, and decarbonising hard-to-abate sectors.” said Shahana McKenzie, CEO of Bioenergy Australia and founder of the Low Carbon Fuels Alliance of Australia & New Zealand (LCFAANZ) and Renewable Gas Alliance (RGA).
“By joining forces with Climate Action Week Sydney, we are putting renewable fuels at the heart of the national climate conversation – connecting innovators, policymakers, and investors to turn ambition into tangible action ahead of COP31. With growing demand for low-carbon liquid fuels at home and abroad, this partnership highlights Australia’s capacity to lead globally, unlock investment, and deliver practical, scalable solutions for decarbonising transport, industry, and energy.” added McKenzie.
Ed Schmidt, Chief Operating Officer at Greenhouse and Founding Director of Climate Action Week Sydney, commented: “We’re genuinely excited to collaborate with Bioenergy Australia. Bringing the 2026 Renewable Fuels Summit to Sydney creates an unparalleled opportunity to showcase Australia’s leadership and connect global industry, government and investors ahead of COP31.”
“The Renewable Fuels Summit already draws hundreds of attendees, international speakers and strong government engagement – including Austrade-supported delegations from the US, Europe and Asia. Combined with CAWSYD26’s global focus, this partnership creates an unparalleled opportunity to showcase Australia’s leadership and connect industry, government and international partners.”
