LEGOLAND Shanghai opened on July 5, 2025, but for anyone attempting to book tickets or a stay at the Shanghai LEGOLAND Hotel from overseas, it’s presenting quite the challenge!

Is Legoland Shanghai the same as the Legoland Discovery Centre?
No, don’t confuse the new Legoland Shanghai theme park and Hotel with the smaller Legoland Discovery Centre, which is an established Legoland attraction also located in Shanghai.
What is at the LEGOLAND Shanghai theme park?
Legoland Shanghai is the world’s biggest Legoland theme park. Designed for families with children aged 2-12, it has eight separate sections or “worlds” offering 75 different attractions and restaurants.

What is the Shanghai LEGOLAND Hotel like?
Legoland Shanghai Resort features its own Legoland Hotel with five different LEGO themed rooms. LEGO MONKIE KID, LEGO CITY, LEGO CASTLE, LEGO FRIENDS and LEGO NINJAGO®.
How much does a stay at the LEGOLAND Hotel cost?
Whilst Legoland Shanghai is the biggest Legoland theme park in the world, it isn’t the cheapest. LEGOLAND Hotel room prices start from around $750 AUD twin-share. Most rooms only sleep 4 people, with bunk beds for kids under 13 years. The bed capacity understandably caters to the average size Chinese family.
Where can I book the Shanghai LEGOLAND Hotel?
You can currently book the LEGOLAND Hotel in Shanghai on Trip.com here or using the Legoland Shanghai app (only downloadable in China). Currently other major accommodation websites either list Legoland Shanghai but have no booking options, or don’t list it at all.

How do I download the LEGOLAND Shanghai app?
You can only download and use the Legoland Shanghai app from inside China. Country limits block you from downloading the Legoland Shanghai app from any other country. (Using a VPN set to China from outside China could be a viable solution).
Who owns Legoland Shanghai?
Legoland Shanghai is owned by the UK company Merlin Entertainments (who also run all the other Legoland parks globally), and is a collaboration with the Shanghai Jinshan District local government.
Where is Legoland Shanghai located?
Legoland Shanghai is in the outlying Shanghai area. It is over an hour’s drive from The Bund in Shanghai City. Legoland Shangai is located one hour’s drive from Legoland Shanghai.

It’s complicated! Whilst I could see tickets already for sale on Klook, trying to book the Legoland Shanghai Hotel was a whole other matter entirely!
What is the Legoland Shanghai phone number?
I tried to phone the new LEGOLAND in Shanghai. An answering machine picked up which after choosing the English option (thank goodness there was one) directed me to put in a request from their website. Unfortunately, I received no response after several weeks, so there is still quite a gap with English speaking enquiries.
