Amidst the stunning cliffs and azure waters of the Amalfi Coast lies a hidden gem, the beautiful town of Minori, Italy. From an ancient Roman villa to walks with the hint of lemon in the air, Minori offers a range of activities.
Accommodation in Minori is cheaper than other parts of the Amalfi Coast and with ferry and bus stops it’s easy to explore the entire Amalfi Coast from Minori.
I spent had a wonderful, relaxing time during my stay. So, forget staying in over-crowded Positano, or expensive Amalfi, and make Minori the base for your Italian adventure instead.

Things to Do in Minori
Minori makes a wonderful base for visiting the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Amalfi Coast. There are also plenty of things to see and do in Minori village itself.
Visit an Ancient Roman Villa and Museum
One of the most interesting things to do in Minori is to visit the Villa Romana e Antiquarium. This historical Roman Villa was accidentally discovered in 1934 and rediscovered after a flood wreaked havoc on Minori in 1954.Â
On my trip I found that what makes the Roman Villa in Minori so special is its unassuming position within the town. The Villa is located on Via Capo di Piazza, 28. It’s a remarkable relic hiding in plain sight amongst the back alleys and bins.
My favourite part of the villa is the old dining room mosaic flooring, where you can almost feel the opulence of the Roman elite.
Walk the Amalfi Coast’s Path of Lemons (il Sentiero dei Limoni)
One of the top things to do on the Amalfi Coast is to walk il Sentiero dei Limoni, the Path of Lemons, which is at its most abundant with lemons from April to July.Â
This 45-minute hike from Minori to Maiori will stimulate your senses and immerse you in the lemony essence of the Amalfi Coast. To find the start, check the map below.

Hike from Ravello to Minori
Whilst Minori offers its own share of picturesque views, the nearby hilltop town of Ravello promises another perspective of the Amalfi Coast’s beauty. The return hike back to Minori offers a chance to soak in the stunning landscape.
Places to visit in Ravello:
- Villa Cimbrone Gardens, including the infinity terrace.Â
- Villa Rufallo, including its sculpted gardens.
Relax on Amalfi Coast Beaches
Minori has its own cosy beach, with a small public section which becomes less crowded in the late afternoon. Maiori, Minori’s neighbour, boasts the Amalfi Coast’s largest beach.Â
Vietri Sul Mare, offers another sizable beach, or you could try to find space on the iconic but postage stamp-sized beaches at Positano and Amalfi.

Visit the Church of Santa Trofimena, Minori
Whilst in Minori, visit the intricate design of la Basilica di Santa Trofimena. The brightly coloured façade is not actually the original building. Over the years, the original was damaged and rebuilt.
Minori celebrates Santa Trofimena three times a year, on 13th July and 5th and 27th of November.Â
Explore the Streets of Minori Town
Exploring a new town without having a specific destination in mind can be one of the most fun things to do on holiday. Minori’s little streets were made for this. Wander aimlessly through the picturesque pedestrian passageways and get your Insta photos as you go.Â
Visit Maiori
A stone’s throw from Minori lies its charming sister town, Maiori, which is a good choice for a half or full day out. To reach Maiori take a walk along the Path of Lemons.

The location of Minori along the Amalfi Coast makes it an ideal base to explore some of the other well-known places in this part of Italy:
- Amalfi – classic Amalfi Coast town, check out the fascinating paper museum and the views from the Belvedere cemetery above the town.
- Positano – mega busy, check out the staircase on Via Cristoforo Colombo and views of the dome of the Chiesa di Santa Maria Assunta.
- Ravello – visit the Villa Cimbrone gardens.
- Sorrento – grab a bite to eat on the Piazza Tasso and take in the pretty pastel buildings.
- Vietri Sul Mare – shop for hand-made ceramics.
- Grotta della Smereldo – take the boat or bus from Amalfi and enjoy a boat trip around the Emerald Grotto.  Â
- Fiordo di Furore – a picturesque fjord and bridge where you can swim in the sea and be shocked by the heights from which others are jumping off the surrounding cliffs.
Getting Around Minori
Buses on the Amalfi Coast
Regular SITA buses numbers 5120, 5020 and 5070 run along the Amalfi Coast. They can be busy in peak summer so be prepared to wait for a delayed departure due to traffic.
Buy tickets via the ‘Unico Campania’ app and activate them just before you get on the bus. Use the ‘Find tariff’ option to find a ticket for your journey and ‘Calculate route/Timetables’ to check departures.
Ferries from Minori
Minori has a ferry port so it’s easy to travel the Amalfi Coast by boat. The town of Amalfi itself is ten minutes by ferry and Positano is an hour away.
Boat Rental
Rent a boat and cruise along the Amalfi Coast at your own pace. Go to the port in Minori to check for options or book in advance with Viator.Â

How to Get to Minori
Nearest Airport to Amalfi Coast
The nearest international airport to the Amalfi Coast is the newly re-opened Salerno Costa d’Amalfi Airport, at Salerno. Easyjet and other airlines started flights from London Gatwick to Salerno airport in July 2024.
The next closest airport to Minori is Naples Airport.Â
Closest Train Station
The closest train station to Minori is Vietri sul Mare but only the slower trains stop here. There’s a more useful train station at Salerno, where there are better connections to other destinations, such as Naples.
You can reach Minori by ferry or bus from Salerno in 45 minutes to an hour.
Alternatively, you could take the train from Naples to Sorrento and then a ferry to Minori, with a change in Amalfi. This will take longer than going from Naples to Minori via Salerno station.
Ferry
It’s easy to reach Minori by ferry from various locations in this part of Italy, such as the island of Ischia (with a change in Amalfi), or Capri.
Taxi
Unlike some of its other European hubs, like Uber in Malta, Uber does not operate on the Amalfi Coast. You can book a regular taxi from your hotel.

Places to Eat in Minori
There are some great local restaurants to eat at in Minori. In particular, check out the following:
- Giardiniello – eat good quality pizza and pasta in a romantic terraced garden setting.
- Pasticceria Sal De Riso – a famous Italian pastry shop with incredible desserts.
- Ristorante ‘a Ricetta – delicious pasta dishes in a quiet outdoor square.
- Ristorante La Botte – a hidden gem of a restaurant and my favourite place to eat in Minori, lots of local families eat here which is often a good sign.
Plus anywhere on the main streets in Amalfi – try a lemon sorbet served inside a giant lemon, one for the ‘gram’.Â
Where to Stay in Minori: Hotels and Accommodation
The Amalfi Coast is pricey but Minori is one of the cheaper places to stay. Check out these three options.
Budget: Casa San Michele
A bed and breakfast that has incredible views, owing to its location up on the hill overlooking Minori. Rooms have air conditioning and Wi-Fi and there’s a lovely balcony to take breakfast on.
Mid-range: Casa Amorino
A beautiful hotel in Minori which is consistently rated as excellent by guests, with a top rating of 9.5 on Booking.com. Enjoy relaxing in a hammock in the tranquil garden right in the heart of Minori. This is a great find.
Luxury: Villa Romana Hotel & Spa
This 4-star hotel in Minori is ideally located in the centre of the town. At the end of a busy day of sightseeing, relax in the outdoor pool and start the next day with an amazing breakfast.
Weather: Best Time to Go to Minori
Summertime in the Amalfi Coast runs from June to August, with average high temperatures between 25°C (77°F) and 29°C (84°F). This is peak season so it gets very busy.
The shoulder months of May and September/October are the best time to visit the Amalfi Coast. At this time it should be less crowded and still offer warm temperatures, with average highs of 22°C (72°F).
Where to Go in Italy After Minori
Once you’ve finished exploring the Amalfi Coast, it’s easy to reach Capri, Ischia, Pompeii, Naples and Rome from Minori.
Or go further afield and take the ferry from Piombino to Elba Island, home to some of the best beaches in Italy and the iconic Monte Capanne cable car.
