Regional Grocery Promotions and Moves

Peter Poutre has been named SVP of strategy at JOH. In his new role, he will collaborate with division leaders to guide corporate strategy, support growth, and help shape JOH’s future while staying true to the values that have guided the company for 70 years.

Poutre brings more than three decades of retail experience across grocery, club and dollar channels, with a career defined by operational excellence, category expertise, and a people-first approach to building teams and partnerships. Following four years of distinguished service as a U.S. Marine, during which he was meritoriously promoted to corporal and sergeant, and was the recipient of the Navy Achievement Medal for successfully leading a Marine Anti-Terrorism Force, Poutre went on to build a retail career spanning his entire professional life. He began as a part-time clerk while in high school and rose through store operations, merchandising, and executive roles at some of the most respected retailers in the industry.

Throughout his career, Poutre has guided teams through periods of growth, transformation, and strategic change. Most recently, he served as chief buying officer for a leading international value grocer operating in the U.S., where he helped reshape category strategies, modernize business processes, and strengthen long-term supplier partnerships to support continued expansion.

Brooklyn, NY based Acme Smoked Fish Corp. earlier this month announced that Rob Snyder has officially assumed the role of chief executive officer, effective January 1, 2026. Snyder succeeds Eduardo Carbajosa, who has retired following nearly two decades of leadership with the company.

Snyder has spent the past six months leading strategic planning and operational alignment across Acme’s U.S. headquarters and international operations. He previously served as the company’s chief people and sustainability Officer for nearly five years and, before joining Acme, was president of the Island Institute in Rockland, ME. He brings more than 20 years of experience across the seafood and food industries.

“I’d like to thank the outgoing CEO, Eduardo Carbajosa, and the Caslow Family for building a strategically networked global business with an incredible team behind it,” said Snyder. “Over the past six months, I’ve worked closely with our leadership team to position Acme for growth and operational excellence. 2026 will be a year of value realization, as we leverage recent investments in technology, people, and infrastructure to navigate a fast-changing marketplace. I’m honored to take the helm at this important moment in Acme’s long history.”

Carbajosa joined Acme in 2007 as chief financial officer and went on to serve as president and CEO. During his tenure, he helped strengthen the company’s financial foundation, expand its production footprint, and guide transformative growth across the U.S. and international markets.

Snyder’s appointment marks the start of a new phase of investment, innovation, and long-term growth as Acme continues to strengthen its position as a global leader in ready-to-eat seafood.

The Pennsylvania Food Merchants Association (PFMA) recently announced the appointment of Stephen Miller of Ellis Coffee Company to its board of directors.

Miller brings more than 25 years of experience in sales, operations, and business leadership across the food and beverage Industry. For two decades, he owned and operated franchise businesses, building a strong foundation in customer service, operational efficiency, and team development.

In 2018, Miller joined Ellis Coffee Company, a PFMA member, as a district manager. He quickly advanced to regional manager and now serves as director of sales and operations. In his current role, Miller leads strategic sales initiatives and oversees operational performance, helping drive growth and profitability across the organization.

“Stephen brings a valuable combination of frontline business experience and executive leadership,” said PFMA president and CEO, Alex Baloga. “His perspective will strengthen our board and support our mission to advocate for Pennsylvania’s Food and Beverage Industry.”
