One Day Remaining to Claim these Free Games on Steam

Steam gamers know that one of the best perks of the platform is the great sales, trials, and occasional free games that come your way. Well, there’s good news! If you act fast, you can currently add two new titles to your Steam library indefinitely.

Marathon is Already One of Steam's Best Selling Games Despite Controversy

Marathon is Already One of Steam’s Best Selling Games Despite Controversy

Against all odds, Marathon is currently a top 5 selling game on Steam.

Crown Champion: Legends of the Arena and Battle Simulator: Counter Stickman are both offered as “Free to Keep,” but you’ll need to show some urgency here.

In addition, there’s one more free offering you can take advantage of right now on Steam, though this one is a timed, free “weekend” of play for the divisive Pax Dei.

Here’s all the information you need to know about all three available free titles. Even if these games don’t seem like they’d be for you at first glance, free is free! You might as well pick them up and test them out for yourself!

Crown Champion: Legends of the Arena

Free to Keep Until January 22, 2026 at 1pm EST

Crown Champion

Up first is Crown Champion: Legends of the Arena, which is described as a fantasy RPG/management sim. Visually, this one looks cool, as it’s a top-down/isometric-type game that really looks like it’s going all-in on very old-school, CRPG graphics. You take on the role as the actual trainer of the region’s fighters, which is a pretty unique-sounding premise.

Even if these games don’t seem like they’d be for you at first glance, free is free!

Reviews for this one are also nice, as it’s currently sitting at a “Very Positive” rating, with 84% of player reviewers giving the game their seal of approval.

If you’re interested in checking this one out, or at least adding it to your collection, you’re running out of time to do so. After 1pm EST on Thursday, January 22nd, the game will go back to its full-price of $4.99

Battle Simulator: Counter Stickman

Free to Keep Until January 22, 2026 at 1pm EST

Battle Simulator

Like Crown Champion, the next game here is also only available for free until this Thursday the 22nd at 1pm EST. Battle Simulator: Counter Stickman only costs $2.99 normally, but it’s still worth grabbing it while you can for the low, low price of nothing.

This one looks a little silly, as you’re tasked with taking on the role as leader of the Counter Terrorist Stickman Forces. I also enjoy the devs listing this game as having “accurate stickman tactics.” While I don’t really know what that means, it just goes to show that BS:CS is clearly willing to laugh at itself, which is often times an indicator of a game that’s a good time.

Reviews here are mixed to say the least, however, with some Steam users leaving comments such as, “even free its not worth it.” But you may as well be the judge for yourself!

Pax Dei

Free “Weekend” Until January 26, 2026 at 1pm EST

Pax Dei

Last up, but actually the most high-profile of the three, is Pax Dei. Unlike the previously mentioned games above, Pax Dei is not actually Free to Keep indefinitely. Instead, it’s currently offered on a Free “Weekend” deal, with weekend only in quotes, because you can actually grab it right now in the middle of the week and play till Monday.

Pax Dei came out into Early Access in 2024, but released into its 1.0 version in 2025. Normally listed with a $29.99 price tag, being able to jump in and try the game out from now until Monday, January 26th at 1pm EST seems like a good way to try it out before committing to a purchase.

By the looks of things, this “social sandbox MMO” hasn’t been having the best go of it recently, with reviews currently being “Mixed,” and only 54% of Steam players recommending the game. But who knows? Perhaps you’ll be part of the half of Pax Dei players that the game clicks with. There’s only one way to find out, and you can do so for free for several more days if you get a move on.
